It's not just normal 'people' but even BMW's own staff racing drivers who've tested the car, per Benedikt Nussstein (my emphasis added):

Quote:
Our customers have very different tastes. There are drivers who prefer light steering while others prefer to use more manual force. This is why we have included three steering mode settings: Comfort, Sport und Sport plus. Changing from one mode to another will not result in any functional differences and will not, for instance, cause any change in the quality of the steering’s responsiveness. We also have racing drivers in our department; they prefer to apply the Comfort mode curve – while the adaptive M suspension is set to Sport plus. It is really up to the driver to decide which choice best suits his personal preferences.

I love the rev-match feature as well. I can't heel-toe because I lost some range of motion in my right foot due to an injury. I have some plates and screws in the foot that prevent much side to side motion.

I may be wrong but I think rev matching will only work within a certain amount of time. If you have the car in natural for a few seconds you will have to rev match yourself for the gear you selected.

I was not aware of this, will test it out on the drive home tonight.

This is true. For instance, if you hold the clutch in too long between gears, it won't rev match.

OK, tested this on the way to work this morning: if I downshift and keep the clutch pedal depressed for long enough the revs drop (rev match is cancelled).

This is not what I meant in my original post. Sometimes I am in N, and go into 2, and rev match is not performed by the vehicle. The vehicle does not rev match at all - it's not that rev match is being cancelled.

I've noticed this typically happens when speeds are fairly low. Maybe it has something to do with that.

My rev matching is completely screwed up. it rev matches in Sport + sometimes for hours straight. Also, it doesnt rev match correctly in Sport + when it does it, (it revs up and down when I drop into second and I have to manually rev match to override it).

I have coding done to the car and its only intermittently a problem so I let it go without doing anything, lest I have BMW update my software and erase my coding.

I love sport+ because I prefer no assistance, but if I could turn that off, I would rarely use sport+ except for backroad spirited driving.

Sport + is amazing... extra burbles, cracks, and turbo spooling! The throttle response is more immediate as well.

That being said, I can not rev match as well as the computer so I use Sport unless I'm driving 5 mph in an urban area.

Sport+ always

I absolutely loath the rev matching in normal driving.

A few hundred miles in...and I'm split decision on the rev match.

Part of me likes it, part of me dislikes it...and part of me wishes it could be selected on the fly.

Sport Plus definitely has more sound, but I haven't been in it much so far. One of the few times I used it so far, my wife commented (without knowing I was in Sport plus) how loud it was when i was pulling up home..said she could hear me a block a way... I was like, "but how'd it sound tho?!"

Yea a separate decoupled auto rev match button would solve of my few complaints about the car.

I don't use sport+ for the throttle because it's way too sensitive especially when the car is cold. You go over a bump and your foot moves slightly and the car starts jerking. It slows down and your foot goes down and then it pulls up and your foot goes up and it oscillates like that for a couple of seconds sometimes.

Yeah I get that a lot and it's annoying and people outside the car must think I'm a complete noob. I drive mostly in Sport but every month or so I'll go through a Sport+ streak and the car feels so much more alive.
