Any rear fender rock chips with wider wheels/tires or spacers?
I am going with 12mm spacers all around for my winter-dedicated BMW 437 wheels (OEM tire sizes) and will be getting aftermarket wheels with a good F8x-tailored offset and 295R/265F tires in the Spring. Those of you who do the same, do you find the OEM clear strips sufficient to protect the rear fenders from rock chips? Logic dictates that tires moved closer to the fender wall should exceed those strips' coverage area and result in chips from highway driving. Have you had such issues? If so, did you replace those protective pieces with larger/wider versions? How much bigger and did that work?

The OEM strip isn?t sufficient with stock.
I had Xpel installed which included a much bigger rear fender strip. Did much better with my stock setup. I eventually went 12f/10r spacer setup and I?ve noticed more rock impacts both there and on the doors. Price you have to pay. |

I am just past break-in and have been lucky with the stock set-up thus far; no chips. But considering that I plan to drive my car all winter plus the tires will soon be sitting closer to the fenders, I am thinking of getting the strips replaced.

I got the extended piece of xpel for the quarters. Even without spacers I have chips in doors and the xpel has taken some abuse. It has saved me from chips though.
