2 years and 30k miles. It was under warranty though. In a visit a few weeks prior the tech noted something about a low battery message. This visit was for a bunch of codes that I thought were related to a blown off CP after the visit. Turns out my battery was dying. I had abs, steering, diff, anda few other errors showing up on the idrive screen. Car lost power for a split second twice, both were during turns.

Please identify where other batteries are located besides the 12V LiFePo battery in the trunk.

I won't divulge all of them, but here are 2:

Alarm System Backup

ACSM/Crash Notification Backup (separate from the main battery safety system)

You "won't divulge all of them"? Is this supposed to be some kind of secret?

Oh and let's not forget the emergency battery in the TCB module... There is one main battery required for the overall car engine/electronics, and it's sitting in the passenger side of the trunk. But the OP's error is intriguing, so maybe it's one of those secret batteries? This one isn't so secret, as it's easily accessible under the trunk liner, with a battery replaceable cover. If the OP had ISTA, we'd know exactly which battery needs to be attended to!

Emergency battery
The emergency battery will be installed from 03/2013.

The emergency battery is designed as a nickel metal hydride battery with 4.8 V and a capacity of 600 mAh. The emergency battery serves as a voltage source if the voltage supply of the vehicle for the Telematic Communication Box (TCB) is interrupted due to an accident for example. In this case, an emergency call can be placed and the connection to the emergency centre maintained for at least 5 minutes independent of the voltage supply in the vehicle.

The Telematic Communication Box (TCB) monitors the emergency battery within the framework of an internal self-test after each start-up procedure. The emergency battery has a service life of at least 5 years. If the capacity of the emergency battery is exhausted to the extent that placing an emergency call can no longer be guaranteed then this is shown by a Check Control message (emergency call system fault!). A fault entry is also stored in the Telematic Communication Box.

Hey!

This information is not meant for mere mortals only those (on a forum!)
that need to make themselves seem interesting.

Li-Ion - Maintenance Charger

I've got a question about this "BMW" branded ("Ctek") charger.

It is Part # 61432408594.

As can clearly be seen in this image, It has indicated on it, "...For 12v Lead Acid And LIFEPO Batteries".

Yet, "ShopBMWUSA" sites all indicate this model as, "Not for Lithium Ion Batteries"

My Confusion is further enhanced as it shows up on the ETK for F8x M3/M4 and also on "RealOEM" for
the same application.

It's not listed at "Tischer" and at "ECS" it's listed as "New", so maybe that's it?!?

Any thoughts?

Help!

Cheers!

P.S.: Tischer (Jason) confirmed/Ordered/Delivered and Properly In Use!
