Hand/emergency brake worn out
i have a 6MT F80 with 17k miles on it and lately I find that unless I pull the handbreak all the way up (which takes significant force), it doesnt hold the car in place when parking on an incline. I don't pull the handbrake while driving and I've only driven a couple feet once or twice with it on before realizing it was on (and turning it off).
I plan on waiting for the 20k service to take it in but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar issue. Thanks everyone.

Good to know. Mine is like this too and I thought it was odd considering the ebrake is hardly ever used. Needs adjusting!

There is this, however:

This is a joke right? LIke one of those life hacks that you extend the battery of your iPhone by putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds...

The OP should have stated that this is straight from the Owner's Manual. In the PDF version for the 2016 M4 it's on page 66, or search for "parking brake".

Yes, I should have. The reasoning is when the brake surface gets wet it will form surface corrosion. On your main brake rotors that surface film is removed as soon as you use them. But with the parking brake it is typically not.

I had my parking brake adjusted during a service visit.
