Loads of power is good and all, but won't swapping for bigger turbos introduce greater turbo lag? How is the throttle response compared to stock turbo setup?

Upgraded turbos will almost always spool slower than stock turbos. How much slower depends on what has been modified. The S55 PURE Stage 2 is pulling hard from 3500 rpm. We are very happy with the performance.

Any pics of the dyno. Just to get a idea of the curve?

Odd that the lines cross 250 (maybe even more) RPM early, but still cool.
Edit; just to answer the question I'm sure someone will have, the formula for HP is (TQxRPM)/5252=HP, so TQ and HP are always equal at 5252 rpm, not 4950'ish as depicted by this graph. Edit 2, lol: Ah, I see what's going on, this type of dyno has two Y axis definitions, one for TQ and one for HP. Never understood the need for that but it answers the difference. If you plot TQ to the left at 5252rpm, you see it is about 525. Then if you plot HP to the right at 5252, you see it does indeed match HP at about 525. My bad. I should just delete this whole stream of consciousness debacle, haha. Last edited by chiplee; 12-10-2014 at 07:55 PM.. |

F'ing sexy graph compared to what's been manipulated through the stock turbos so far. Power developed to redline. Where do I sign guys?

Power takes a sharp dip at around 6600rpm and then barely raises after that. RPM stops at 7000rpm, and redline is at 7600rpm... Not saying gains aren't impressive. Just that the HP graph does NOT increases all the way to the redline. Partly beacuse it drops at 6600rpm and partly because the graph stops at 7000rpm... |

The graph looks great, its better than peaking at 5000 and nose diving like the stockers, still I'd rather see an EAS dynojet run to really do the closest apple to apple.....impatiently waiting.....

We definitely need to get it on the dyno ASAP. I can tell you guys this, PURE is one of my friends and I live about 5 minutes from his shop. Stopped in yesterday for undisclosed reasons, but took a ride in the car. Riding in the passenger seat is a different experience than driving due to sense of speed and control but I would like to point out a couple things Turbo lag: I would say it was relatively insignificant compared to stock. I will start by saying that I want the one behind the wheel so I truly dont know what the lag feels like from the time the pedal hits the floor, but I was seeing full boost on his car right after 3500 compared to my own ~3100. For PURE's particular setup, he isnt running wastegate control like my Stage 3. I think that would help with the spool and its ability to reach the target boost. Power: I am not a calibrated dyno, but we ran his car on only 23lbs of boost in midrange and 20lbs up high. Even without the testing being complete and the setup not completely dialed in, it still pulls VERY hard. We were driving around with the A/C on and at some points uphill and it was a monster. On 100/109 fueling, I really wouldn't be surprised if it put down over 600whp/630wtq @ 25-26psi. Like i said, Im not stating a fact, but I wouldnt be surprised. I can also say that the "dip" that people see on the chart is not noticeable during driving. It feels to hold the power a lot better than my stock setup. Quality: I got to see the replacement parts and the process of how the turbos were modified for this specific application, and can attest that PURE knows exactly what is talking about and put a lot of thought into it. I wont share trade secrets, but I will say that he really thought it out and has been working on this for a while- not just a two day job. (And I could give a shit less that he's my friend, but truth should be told to the community. Those who know me personally know that I will call a spade a spade- anytime, anyplace) Driveability: PURE still has the stock wheel/tire combo and I can tell you that if you purchase this upgrade and plan to stick with PS2s in stock sizes, you will NOT be happy. I would suggest no less than 295 AD08/RE-11/R888/PSC/RS3 type compounds. Otherwise, you're just putting rubber on the ground, rather than the power. Under normal driving conditions, you couldnt even tell that it had been modified because it maintained the stock driveability. Noise: To be honest, this was my favorite part. The tone of the exhaust changed to be a bit deeper and the spool is significantly louder and more pleasant (if you like that kind of thing). With the windows up, you could hear some whine- and I loved it. After futher testing is done, I am sure we will do some comparo pulls on a private track to truly see the difference between PURE's car and mine and I think it will be a good benchmark considering my previous half mile results and I run Map 7 with 100 99% of the time and we are both 6MT. I'd like to reiterate, the testing is not final and PURE is working it, but this is definitely seeming like it's going to be a solid upgrade. Can't wait to see his car in more action- and obviously the newest results after he's done tweaking. (not to be confused with twerking)

Will you be doing any testing / tuning with with lower oct. fuels? At least for me, I don't have easy access to anything other that 91oct and E85, and since no one is talking about a true E85 kit I'm wondering what the potential is with say DP's and 91oct AND upgraded turbos. |

Confirmed for 12/20 @ 8am. 20 car limit.
I'll make official announcement in a new thread so we do not hijack Pure's.
