Was the heated steering wheel standard on the 2017 M3 in Canada?
Hey everyone.
I'm new here and I'm DEFINITELY excited to say that I'm a proud new owner of a M3! Just picked it up last Saturday. It's my dream car and I've been waiting A VERY long time to get it. So, as I was looking to test out the Heated Steering Wheel feature, I couldn't find the button to turn it on. I checked the user manual, and it shows where it is. I look on my steering wheel column, and it's NO WHERE to be found. I thought Heated Steering Wheel came standard on the M3s. When I look online, there's no charge for that feature. I have the Competition Pkg, the Premium Pkg and the Driver Assistance Pkg. Sooo....does the M3 come with heated steering wheel as standard? or is this an add on? Thanks in advance! |

You should have it. It is standard equipment in Canada. As other's mentioned, look at your steering column on the left side and slightly downwards.

Its standard, no package required on 2016 and 2017 in Canada.

That's what I thought. I checked the bmw canada site, and it looks like it's standard option. I also looked at my steering wheel on the left side..and it's not there.
Is it possible they didn't add it on??? |

Not your steering wheel - your steering column. Just a small button on the left side of the steering column.

I stand corrected. With the packages you have you do not get heated steering wheel. I did build your own with your options and heated steering wheel is not an option you can choose. Strange.

That's weird! I have a 2017 M3 and have the heated steering wheel... Can't understand how this would be omitted on a Canadian build!

I thought about getting ultimate package, but there were just somethings that I didn't really want or need, so didn't make sense to spend the extra cash. The value wasn't there for me |

Sorry I was building an M4. Odd that it doesnt have heated seats with all packages, but doing the build for the 17 M3 it says heated steering wheel is standard period.
With Ultimate Package... With Comp, Drive and Premium packages All show heated wheel standard. Maybe you got an M4 wheel ... lol I even added exec package just to see and it was still checked on heated steering wheel. I would ask... I would feel robbed. Because I love mine and never thought I would miss it until I got into my truck and it wasnt there.

Yeah...I'm going to ask again. When I asked the sales mngr ...he told me it doesn't come with Comp. Pkg wheel. But part of me didn't believe him. Sometimes these sales guys don't know what they're talking about..that's why I figured I'd ask in here. I was certain it was standard...so now i'm REALLY confused. |

It was not standard on the M3 2016 ZCP package in Canada because at that time they had the alcantara steering wheel as part of the ZCP package and it doesn't support heating function. In 2017 the alcantara wheel was removed from the package and the standard wheel was the only option (I tried to have this factory installed to no avail and it was escalated to BMW Canada top level, they offered me dealership installation for free and a discount on the alcantara wheel). That's how I know all of this. I would go back to the dealership and throw a huge fit if I was you!!

Yeah! This ALWAYS works and makes you a huge hit at your local dealership! I think everyone who didn't get their door jambs and underside of their trunks painted did the same and they got their whole cars repainted by BMW! Pretty sure it's the best way to get stuff out of BMW and while you're at it, I'd ask to get jumped to the front of the queue of all limited edition waitlists.

Do you also have the Carbon Package?
That might be the reason. I beleive that it is the result of a silly mistake in the BMW Canada ordering system. The Carbon package used to include the alcantara M-Performance steering wheel which inherently removes the heated steering wheel. A little while ago, they removed the alcantara steering wheel from the carbon package but for some reason they forgot to add back the heated steering wheel option code. See excerpts from the BMW pricing guide below, there is a little footer at the bottom of the Carbon package that says it deletes option code 248, which is the heated steering wheel.
