I also am not going back and forth on the Logic 7. In some songs I like it on, but it others I like it off. When it's on, using the same equalizer settings, it adds a bit of an echo chamber effect. l like it in some places, but I don't like it in others. When the guitars are busy it tends to muddy the sound. When the song is slower and it's slower paced / there's less gain on the guitar, I like it the Logic 7 on. Too bad you can't associate EQ settings to the memory buttons.

Interested to see if others think this sounds good or if I'm tone deaf.
Another update... for a little less bass, after setting the channel specific items, lower the "master" bass from +10 to +8. Keeps a similar ratio but with a little less boom. Works a little better for some genre's.

Also, I really wish you could have a couple different settings tied to the shortcut buttons.

Great thread. With my '15 it took the HK system a good 20+ hours of play time before it "opened up" and I had to tweak my initial settings, so wouldn't be surprised if you end up tweaking this setup as it breaks in. Did not know about logic 7 programmable button....sometimes I like it and others I prefer it off, have kept going back and forth on it for the past 2.5 years.

Also if you get a valve controller and keep them open all the time it won't matter how delicately tuned your system is in this car! Mids? what are those...

I guess I worded that incorrectly

I was just asking if the settings would work in a 2018. Is there anything different in the newer F80's from when these settings were taken?

Gotcha. I assume they are applicable, as nothing meaningful (that I'm aware of) about the HK audio equipment has changed since 2014.

Note that I've got a 2018 M3 and that's where I came to identify the settings I shared in this thread. Some of this is preference. Try them all and stick with the one that sounds best to you.

This REALLY improved the audio quality. Overall, these settings work for most of the music I listen to. I think I may have moved the equalizer settings on far left and right ever so slightly to suit my tastes while listening to some of my favorite classic rock tunes. Great job, thanks!

Not really in my case. The 2018 System sounds great with neutral settings compared to my 2015. I think they did some tuning to the system over past couple of years (likely same equipment but tuned in a different EQ curve as "factory neutral" settings). The '18 has much better mid to low end definition and more kick to me. I think Mr. Fox settings sound better to my ear than Lincoln's in the 2018. 100% agree on Logic 7 - I find I'm leaving it in for a few days then off, then on again and depends on the music. Best music is the exhaust of course!

Thus, if listening to stereo source, driver and passengers are able to hear the separated audio.
In a nutshell, yes.

However, 1) there are not 16 amp Channels in the car and 2) the source material is not 16 Channels.

Level 7 plays games with the timing and phasing of the source material so it “appears” to widen the audio coming from all over as several have noted in this thread.

The problem in doing that is that it distorts the audio with the phasing and time differences. In essence, the instruments do not sound “real” or the way they do in real life. There is a bunch of distortion in the audio as it plays these games.

As mrfox noted in post #1, he has Level 7 urned off, which is correct. Otherwise, the distortion becomes very fatiguing after a short while listening because of the unnatural sound.

Great post!

Updated my settings this morning and what a difference it's made. Really has added another level to the in car audio. Thanks!
