Tracking Canadian Order....
Can we do it?
I have a long production number from dealer (starts with "82..."). Doesn't seem to work on 'add my vehicle' on bmw.ca 'my bmw' site, nor can i use that number on the BMW USA site. ?

Before production completion on your car, tracking in Canada is dependent on your sales rep. Their system has a screen that provides the same status as the USA site does, but we have no access. Once you have the VIN, that's when the fun begins.

Not entirely sure, but I got my VIN once it was scheduled into production.

No worries... keep checking with your sales rep and they should be able to notify you once they see the VIN in their system. Then...
To track your car's details (EDITED): http://www.bmwvin.com/ To track when your car gets on a boat and when it gets discharged: https://offices.2wglobal.com/offices...uickSearchPage Then to track the vessel's voyage through terrestrial AIS: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ Once it gets to Canada, you will need to find a friend who has CN rail access to get a date for when it gets on a train and moved to you vicinity. Check this forum, there are those here that can help. Once it is near your vicinity, you can track the trucking to the dealership: https://www.lhf.com/ (DISCLAIMER - At least this was the way I tracked my car from Germany to Toronto. I know they sometimes can ship using a different company or truck direct without rails. So, this has not accounted for those variances) Hopes this helps. Very helpful. Similar to process when we ordered the MB. What is unique to BMW (at least vs Benz) is some ability to 'check status' online for the US cars.
Thanks again mate.

When you have your production number call BMW Canada and they will be able to give you information even the VIN. But once the car gets on the boat they will tell you it is now under dealer inventory and you would have to check with dealer. 99% of the time dealer will have no clue either.

I've take a look at the shipping link but aren't super clear as to which field to use. Basically, I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong, or if my car just hasn't made it to shipping yet. Thanks! |

Exactly what Kanuck said. However, the last 7 characters of your VIN will work as well.
And, if like me, after awhile you still don't see your car, then enter the first 7 characters of your car (namely WBS3R9C for a M4) and you will see all the cars that were produced after yours but getting shipped before yours. This will help make you even more frustrated, as it did for me. Cheers. |

Mine made it on, Don Juan as well woohoo, on Aug 18. I got my car Sept 4 (with a long weekend). So, I would plan at least 2 weeks before taking delivery Pics when you get yours!! |

Just got feedback my car delivery has been delayed by a full week. It got in Halifax on the 16th, it just cleared customes this week and it is now promised at the dealer Friday next week . I can't believe it takes 10 days to get a car trucked to Montreal (ED are getting trucked) .
Hopefully BMW Canada will be able to improve by a few days, we have a road trip planned for next weekend, would sure like to have the M4 . |

That last bit of the wait is the worst, when you think "I could just drive it here my damn self in 1/10th the time...." Is it going to have to go through a mini-PDI process again once it hits your dealer? (I would think they'd wanna clean or detail it, which could add another day or two.....)

Most dealers will do "mini-PDI" for ED redelivery but it is your car if ED, so if you want to just take it as soon as it arrives, you can do that. In the old way of ED redelivery in Canada, you had to get the car through Customs yourself and go to the railyard to get it. No dealer involvement at all.
