BMW M4 - Adaptable ECU (Racing Fuel)
Hi All,
Just a quick question. Does the BMW M4 have an adaptable ecu? Specifically to higher octane fuels. For example if I'm running on 98 (RON) Octane and change over to 100 (RON) Octane fuel, will this have any effect on the vehicle? The reason I ask this is the M4 states 95-98 is recommended. Would surpasing this have any benefit; is the car capable of handling the higher octane? Bare in mind this is for stock BMW M4's no modifications at all. Thank you in advance! |

it will advance timing to a point there will be no gain, after that you gain zero from even running a 120 octane Fuel, always run the best octane you can and let me tell you in South Africa the 95 Ron is proper Shit.
these cars are designed to run on 98 octane Ron and run best on it. even the stock tune pulls timing on the 95 Ron. Hope that answers your Question? |

it cant go beyond the max timing in the DME for the set octane rating and tune, that's obvious By Gain I meant power. you get to a point of diminishing returns , more octane wont equal more timing which in turn wont gain more power on stock tune. Last edited by whoop_ass; 11-11-2017 at 09:25 AM.. |
