What would you do if you had to valet your car?

I’m going to a wedding tomorrow and there is no self parking at the venue, so I’ll need to give it to valet. What do you guys usually do in this senario? The next nearest parking lot is 1 mile away and the walk is uphill. Besides all the horror stories we hear, half the time someone tries to park my f82 they can’t figure it out.

Usually, I ask if I can just park it myself and pay the guy.

Take the wife's Genesis and put the car in valet mode which cuts power down and give you all the info that happened to the car while in their possession

I swear though, the last time I had one of mine valeted, they looked inside, saw the manual and asked me to park it. Really been a while. I do think the BM3 has some valet mode...never really looked into it.

Uber or drive something else or ask to park yourself. One other option for the future would be to get a tune from a tuner that offers a valet tune by pressing a button on your steering wheel.

Make sure you have some cash! I've attended a couple of events lately and didn't have any cash when I went to get the car from the valet station - super embarrassed.

One more comment on tipping etiquette - don't give the cash to the person at the desk, wait for the guy to pull up with your vehicle and tip him when you get in and he hands you the key fob. Something else I had forgotten about in the Fog that was Covid . . .

Just park the car yourself and pay the chap they are usually ok with this esp if you explain to them that you are not happy someone parking the car…simples!

It's a $50,000 car, we aren't talking about a $20,000,000 one of a kind Bugatti.

That’s not the point as 50k to some would have been hard to get and it’s their pride and joy.

Some people care about things they have spent money on.

When you get to the valet, roll down your window and say "Nobody parks this car but me".

I let them park it. I also run mine through a car wash 3 times a week. What I won't do is park it in a garage in NYC. My car is 5 years old at this point, and there are imperfections most 5 year old cars have.

I understand the other perspective though. It's just in my experience, blemishes are unavoidable unless you're never going to drive it.

Funny my car spends 50% of its life being parked in NYC garages most w valet’s I usually tip $5 or $10 and they either let me park myself or park it up front.

Agree on blemishes being unavoidable anytime you park your car I just take as many precautions as possible without it being annoying or cumbersome
