Subwoofer covers vibrate

I installed the bavsound woofers a few months ago. Since then I've been getting a bad rattling whenever there is a bass note. I tried reseating everything but nothing helped. I was thinking of securing the covers better somehow. Looking for any insight on this.

Thanks!

Did they ship you the foam surround? They sent me "frost King" foam weatherstripping to add between the woofer.

I had the same problem. Turns out I didn't fully tighten down the speaker to the speaker box. On both boxes, one screw SEEMED to be seated fully but it wasn't. That screw, on both boxes, made a load crack noise when I fully tightened it. I searched for cracks in the box but didn't find anything. Weird. I initially thought it was the cover also.

Good luck.

No rattle on mine and I also had to add the seal.

If I hold the cover down it stops rattling so that's why I thought it was that

Holding the cover down also forces the speaker into the speaker box so just holding the cover is not proof that the cover is the problem. You don't have to remove the speaker box to tighten the fasteners, but you will need to tilt the seat back and remove the cover to get access to the fasteners. PITA I know, but that's what you need to do.

It took me 20 minutes per side to go back it and fix the vibration.

What this guy said. I thought I cracked something as well but tightening up all the screws for the Subwoofer, not the cover took care of the problem.

I'm in the minority. I actually had a defective sub from them. After the install, turned on the music and instantly it was a severe rattle. I took the seat off again and everything seemed fine so out came the sub. The cone was actually not articulating smoothly. Sent out an email and got a replacement within a week.

FWIW I forgot to use the ring and haven't noticed any downsides.

So I took the driver side out, tightened the screws down really tight on the enclosure and it stopped the vibrating I tried it on the passenger side and while it did reduce the vibrating, it still does it a little.
But on the whole it's like an entirely new system, I can finally listen to sounds with any kind of bass!

Did any of you guys install any Dynamat around the sub enclosure? I thought I remember reading somewhere it was a good idea, but maybe I am thinking of the doors, just wondering if anyone did it for the subs.

Getting my subs tomorrow and wanted to be ready for the weekend install....

i just did this today. and the cracking noise was both screws breaking. first one screw that holds the sub in the enclosure. and the second screw which holds the trim piece down. how the fuck can these screws be that brittle. i was hand tightening. anyone have ideas for part numbers.

Go to your Dealer

Internet sites markup nuts, bolts, clips etc 600%+ as it's not worth them handling a 5 cent screw BMW has marked up to 50 cents

And internet sites charge $3.00+
