2018 M3 Spartanburg Delivery
So I will be picking up my San Marino Blue M3 Comp package in about 2 weeks at the Spartanburg facility.
I have a question for anyone that has done the delivery and driven up to the northeast. Does anyone recommend a route or certain stops along the way? I will have all of memorial day weekend so have time for a few stops. Was thinking about doing ocean city, but its all booked up and not really what i want to do with the car. Would like to experience some good driving roads.... Thanks in advance guys!!! |

if It's me I set the Navi for Harpers Ferry then Gettysburg then Harrisburg then home. i wouldn't want to be on 95 in the heat and in DC Baltimore traffic on memorial day weekend with a brand new S55. Even less if it's 6mt.

The guys at the performance center will give you a recommended route to Asheville NC. Take it then stop there for dinner... if you can stay a night, even better. Then jump on the Blue ridge parkway for as long as you have time. When you run out of time, take 81 all the way to northern VA, then cut across to Baltimore for some blue crabs before you head back to NJ. Be very careful of speeding in VA.... worst state to get caught speeding.

I found the Blue Ridge Pkwy to be too congested for spirited driving. I think you can try it for a few miles, but I found it tedious. Your experience may be different. I stayed at the Biltmore in Asheville, then went over into Tennessee, then made it up to I-81. Then, since I'm in the Albany NY area, I spent a night in Hershey, PA, before finishing the trek up to Albany.
I think you take I-81 until you must go East. The earlier you get East, the more congested the roads will be. I also agree that you have to watch yourself in VA. Have fun at PCD, you're gonna like it. |
