Why does it feel like everyone hates the M3/M4?

Social media "influencers" have taken a side, and its Mercedes. If you're on instagram or YouTube you'll see everyone praising MB and talking shit about BMW. In Mb's defense they've made some amazing machines recently and deserve the praise and admiration. However, sadly for BMW, their M brand is becoming the butt of an undeserved joke.

It has less of a connection than prior M3's and to some people it doesn't sound good but those are the only real complaints that one can stand on. For as fast, beautiful, and capable this car is I really can't believe the hate this thing gets.

When I first bought it and read some reviews it was surprising to see the comments but, the damn thing is amazing, at this point find a lot of it comical. People will complain about anything.


It's also the epitome of things only happening or being true on the internet. In other words, in real life its a huge hit and everyone I know thinks its badass, and really likes it. Several friends think it actually sound good, I tell them it just sounds ok and they tell me I'm nuts not to touch the exhaust.

On the internet, it sounds terrible and BMW lost its way, whatever the hell that means. In real life it has its flaws but this has gone waaaay to far.

If this car deserves this much hate, almost any other enthusiast car is a steaming slow pile of crap.

The latest cars are well sorted, I love my 2017 M3 CP, the 2015 M3 I had was not so good.

I have owned M3s for the last 12 years and now M4 GTS. Getting thumbs up all the time and I have for years...

People are always saying "Nice car," or "I like your car," or something to that effect to me. Maybe it's that beautiful Sakhir Orange color and the matching SO full leather interior. Most of them probably don't know what an M car is. If my car was Alpine White, they probably think it was just another 4 Series coupe.

If you actually talk to people who own this car you will get the true answer. I have yet to find someone who owns the F80/82 and who knows car and knows this car to say that they do not love it.

Yes, if you want to read reviews, car magazines and you tube videos and you don't drive it and actually talk to owners then yes "everyone hates it".

What's worse than GT-R and Tesla fanboys? Alfa fanboys...I have been thinking the same thing lately. The F8x platform has been getting massive hate from ignorant people who have never owned, driven, or even heard an F8x in person

The majority of comments on C63/Alfa reviews or videos destroy the M3/M4. The ignorant people commenting really love to hate the M.

Go read them for yourself! "fake sound through speakers", "M3 looks like Nissan Cube compared to Alfa", "ugly", "slow", "worst sounding car ever", "unreliable", "only douchebags or cocks drive BMW Ms", "outdated interiors", "auto in the Alfa is better than the shit DCT'....wait what?

In person I get nothing but love and I think the F80 sounds incredible!...I also own a supercharged 6.2 V8 Hellcat. The F80 is still the car I would choose.

I couldn't care less what folks that don't own, or can't afford to own, think or say. The truth.... after owning an e90 and two F80's, I can honestly say my M experience has been great. I get complements all the time and the car (especially the latest one) gets a lot of attention. Good attention I might add.

When you really drive it the car is absolutely fantastic. Unless you're paying twice the price there is nothing else like it on the road.

Just curious why someone with a 2017 Mustang GT would care why people "dog on these cars'?

The M3 is an icon. It's the best all around front engine, rear drive, 2d/4d sports car - period.
