Don't need my sympathy about the M4 as you're getting plenty of it from the other members. I want to applaud you on the birdie on 18 for a 76. Strong!

Thanks, man.....it was a good round. My personal best is 74 on that course. Still chasing the elusive par round. Anyway, as an update, I'm now driving a Chevy Impala. The insurance appraiser cannot get to BMW until Thursday, so I probably won't get a true estimate of the damage until Friday or maybe Monday. Then work can begin. Bummer. BTW, don't believe the crap in the Chevy's are wonderful commercials.

I love when they say things like "this is way nicer than my friend's Audi".

Maybe if you de-badge it like in the commercials...

Sounds like you will appreciate "Mahk" 's addition to those commercials (note: there are a bunch more of these he has done - all worth the time suck that it will require to watch them)

anyway, the car thing sucks but that 74 is sweet. I'm currently about a 13 - still fighting to break 80

I know the feeling some of the people here have experienced. I hit a freshly mutilated deer carcass that I couldn't avoid (cars on both sides) on I95 at speed limit. My Status Gruppe front lip grenaded everything it was attached to. The underhood shield and both deflector lips exploded as well as the SG front lip. Thankfully, all the coolers were intact with just a slight bend.

Once I knew I could limp the rest of the way with a flopping, busted front lip, the worst part was the smell of entrails baking on my hot exhaust. Just disgusting!

Parts weren't that expensive but it did waste my SG front lip. But to be fair, something else would've demolished it shortly thereafter, maybe causing more damage. NY/NJ roads are just atrocious!

I had no time, except to try and center the ladder on my car, which I did, then WHAM!, my undercarriage hit the ladder. It was literally just hundreds of yards to my house. I actually backed up at the stop sign to see if there were fluids pooling, and didn't see any. No warning lights, or error messages. However, when I pulled into the garage and got out, there was oil pooling on the garage floor. Punctured the oil cooler at a minimum, couldn't see any other damage. BMW Roadside Assistance was fantastic, we got the car on the flatbed and to the local BMW dealer, where they will assess the damage Monday or Tuesday. USAA will cover the costs, minus my deductable. What a change of fortune in a few seconds. However, no one was hurt, and the parts will be replaced eventually. Bummer, however. I am scheduled to do an M track day at COTA in two weeks, and may have to drive the rented Hundai SUV to the track!!!! Oh, boy.
Ouch, I feel your pain. Hit a tire at night once that tore up my front bumper. BAM! $2400 down the drain.

Update: insurance guy and BMW looked at my car today. Damaged oil cooler, radiator, and transmission cooler. Also damage to the left front wheel. They will try to repair the wheel, replace if necessary, and replace the other parts as soon as the insurance company authorizes the repair. If authorization comes today, they think they can complete repairs by Monday. That is very good news, given the circumstances. Fingers crossed! Doing an M Track Day at COTA next Thursday ( in BMW's cars, of course), would love to drive to COTA in my M4, vs the Chevy

BTW - could only manage a 79 today. Doubled the 17th hole

No leaks...but I oil cooler was bent, the left cover near passenger wheel broken, the bottom grille pushed in, but luckily no fluid leaks.

That oil cooler is easily damaged and not much in the way of protection....sucks what can we do.

Had a lip on the car...dont know if it helped or hurt the situation.
What about the possum? Is he ok?

Had similar incident years ago. took the car to car wash 5 times in a row. Some smell was still there for several days. The funny moment was when I took the car for a service - mechanic was looking at blood and hair stuck to underneath of the car with a weird face. I told him it was a deer. Not sure he believed me but he serviced the car and let me go.

Got my car back today. No engine damage, but I shut it down pretty quickly. Total of $5100 to replace the radiator, transmission cooler, and oil cooler, and to fix the damaged front wheel. All is well. Thanks for all the kind words.

Definitely not mini golf, ha ha. I am retired, though, which means I play all the time. I am one of the old guys with the squinty eyes and the deep suntan they used to warn me against betting with when I was a younger golfer.

When I saw your post I immediately checked your profile to see where you were from because a couple of weeks ago I also encountered an extension ladder between lanes on the freeway while I was on my way home . Fortunately I saw it in time and had room to squeeze over half a lane and avoid it. Sorry this happened!

Thanks, man. I had absolutely no time to do anything except try to center it, which may have helped prevent the ladder bouncing into others, but did not help my car any! At any rate, I'm now back in business. I wish those who haul this kind of stuff around our freeways would at least make a better attempt to secure it in their trucks. Wishful thinking, I know.
