Hard to say hearsay alone will work on getting a conviction. But put a uniformed officer on stand + dash cam video + plus corroborating video evidence of the go pro "races" themselves; well, that paints a pretty good conviction. Also assuming that the video has damning evidence of reckless driving.

Highly doubt the vehicles will be permanently seized, given those are only found in federal felonies involving vehicular evasion or drug/proceeds related crimes. Further, evading police almost results in automatic seizure. But there is a fundamental difference in legal definitions of seizure, impounding, and civil forfeiture. That'll be the attorney job to clarify with the court.

Lastly, if there is anyone that needs to be charged with a crime is that senseless trooper hitting 60+ MPH speeds on a major highway in the OPPOSITE direction. Like WHAT? I cannot fathom a sitting judge in NC or SC that can see the video and not be flabbergasted by the idiotic actions of the trooper. The trooper's actions is what makes my blood boil regarding how he can take the stand and pass as a "credible" and "professional" witness.

Let the evidence speak for itself. Don't be quick to pass judgement. Those involved refrain from posting anything online. Consult an attorney immediately. Sign a confidentiality agreement prior to the initial consult -- even over the phone. Record your conversation, make your attorney aware you're recording in the instance he gives you verbal approval of confidentiality and/or waiver of written approval. Be aware that fighting the case will be very expensive, in the tens of thousands. Best of luck. H

I have the respect for cops , my father is retired NYPD and my brother is on the force in NY however, I Live in NC and can tell you first hand some of these NC State Troopers are complete fucking Morons , some of the shit I see them do, ... That Trooper deserves to be removed from the Force and charged with reckless driving endangering all those peoples lives to chase a speeder... ... That video needs to go up on local NC news.

Thanks for everyone posting / re-posting the info on this since I don't do social media so I disagree with ehagerty on that ... this is an interesting story and I think this is great place for it ...

That said, I think we need to know exactly these guys were doing because some of this sounds like a Nick Murray video and if that's the case then I agree with ehagerty: there's some line-holding that has to happen.

And if there were chicks in bikinis, we're going to need to review that video as well.

Have to agree / Sadly a local Charlotte cop doing over 100 mph on a city street hit and killed a pedestrian just about a week ago. Sad for both the police officer whose career is over and obviously the pedestrian whose life is over.

Obviously more money than brains. I don't condone street racing and if you have the cash to go to a track then that is where you do your speed fix. Or take a trip to Germany, rent an ///M and go to the underpopulated unlimited areas to run. Putting all innocent civilians at risk is just selfish. Holier than thou? Nope, I just was fortunate to live in Germany for a few years and work out the fix. The German drivers see you coming and move out of the way.

I know these guys and i can tell you that they were NOT racing, the whole thing is a big misunderstanding. The alleged guy sticking his head out was taking pictures of the cars for a instagram shoot, NOT filming. Also theres no video of them racing, they'll get there cars back.

I don't see anything wrong with a few friendly rolls/pulls down a quiet 2/3 dual carriageway road/freeway (call it what you will) but when you're out in force in in a convoy giving it the large one you're going to draw the wrong kind of attention.
