My kids are currently 5 and 7 so now both are them are in boosters. Previously we had a Clek and Recaro baby seat back there and it's huge. Keep in mind the F80 cabin is roughly the size of the old E60 5-series so it's plenty big for ANY kid even a teenager! In other words this car will grow with your family from infant to they are well off driving themselves if you keep the car that long.

I've had 4 grown adults with me on short trips and leg room is plenty. I'm 6'2 and in most cars I have the seats all the way back but in this car, I still have about 1-2" to go! It's shocking how much cabin space is in this car, I love it!

Thanks for this. I have a two-year-old that is forward facing, and another one on the way that's going to be in one of these giant infant seats. Hence, my question.

Damn.. Dakar yellow is truly gorgeous. It's a non metallic paint right? It's probably one of the few non metallic paints I'd get on a BMW.

Looks absolutely gorgeous!

I've heard the same comments from many members here (how big the F80 cabin is). Is the F80 cabin the same as the regular 3-Series (F30) cabin? Or is the F80 actually bigger than the F30 inside?

Just got back from Monterey Car Week and still recovering ~ the cars definitely did NOT disappoint!

The M3 has stayed relatively the same but my wife wanted to purchase a dash camera with all the crazy drivers out there.

After much research we ended up picking the Waylens Horizon model. This thing is really well thought out with good integrated apps and allows you to view video directly from your phone.

The cameras can act as a hot spot or client to connect to your phone via WiFi. Very good features such as the Bluetooth OBD II Interface dongle. This allows all track data from the car to be displayed on the cameras, how cool is that!

The setup (button on wheel is to mark a segment of video that you wanted to highlight) such as an accident or right after you did a crazy drift! It can be present to record let's say 10 seconds before and 20 seconds after you hit that button.

here's a screen shot - will post a video clip once I figure out a track day:

Had a friend drop by - how often you see two DAKAR M3's in one place! Both cars are ZCP package too with no sunroof

Really feeling his plate!

How is it working so far?
Does the OBDII dongle have to stay plugged in all the time?
Any rear camera?
How is the mic on it?

All excellent questions so wanted to address here:

The camera itself is well thought out and a superb way to capture video that gives viewers all the telemetry information embedded if you want to show G-force, speed, GPS, even boost! I love this feature and all of it is enabled with the OBDII port adapter. It's seamless and works great. No you do not need to have it plugged in if you don't want the vehicle info to be displayed. Camera works just fine without it.

There is no rear camera option or external mic at this point. However one thing I found out is the internal mic is very good at picking up sounds inside the car because one one video clip you hear nothing but my kids singing in the back seat LOL!

So if not for accident recording, you can capture a lot of precious moments with your passengers. Just note to self not to be saying anything incriminating haha

The biggest issue with this camera which is well discussed on the forums is the weakest link > the suction mount!

You would think with all the engineering this is the easy part. But my impression is the mount is very poorly designed. Does not hold the camera securely so it jitters at high speeds. But even worst is it does not stick and falls off the car. I've had 15 min. trips where the suction has just completely failed which is bad because first it sends your camera crashing to the floor and possibly damaging your car or the camera Quite a few times I came bak to my car to find either the camera on the floor or hanging by the USB cord for deal life. The trouble is you can't simple replace the mount because it has the USB and GPW antenna integrated into the unit. There are home-made fixes but all have their drawbacks. This should not happen on a $500 camera.

So here's a photo of my fix which has resolved the issues. Using a Panavise suction and separating the GPS antenna this has worked well. I don't know if this will be a general fix for all owners yet so stay tuned.

Now that the suction and camera is fixed I can go back to finally using this for it's main purpose as a dash cam for security purposes. Will report back and post a few videos once I figure everything out.

happy Friday!

It's been a while since we posted! Finally got my new rims put on just in time for the local Breast Cancer Awareness annual car show. This is a fun local show with proceeds benefiting the HERS foundation, great cause!

Volk Ultra Edition in Matte blue gun-metal:

19x10, +34 up front
20x11, +32 in rear

*GTS fitment with these tires:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport
265/35/19 fronts
305/25/20 rears

Enjoy the pics! My friend commented at the car show how wide the rear tires looked and it's identical to the wide-body F458 and the Huracan rears, definitely some meat

The car is getting a completely new CF aero trim kit so all of the old stuff you see on here right now will be removed by end of this week for the new stuff!

When asked which car my niece wanted to ride in, she pics DADS BUS!

Te37's always looking good!

Assuming your rears are 20x11 +32, any rubbing issues with a 295 tire?

No rubbing once the proper alignment was done. I fixed my post to include the offsets but I had a typo on the rear tire.

thanks!

The rear fitment looks good but very aggressive. Does it poke out beyond the fender a little bit? Does it rub at all with passengers in the rear?

Happy Friday!

I'll get some better photos once the rear is ready as we are test fitting the custom CF rear rock guards this weekend

NO RUBBING at all with my passengers (both kids at roughly 50 lbs each) and my wife in the car plus a bunch of crap from Costco so it's pretty safe.

This is really a daily driver that negotiates parking lots more than tracks so I wanted the car to be 100% functional.

Recently we removed the front lip and I have never been happier to drive the car now. With the front lip, it really kills the fun factor since you have to drive like a turtle everywhere! We got a new CF aero kit going on the car and I'm seriously debating not putting the front lip on the car except for car shows.

Just not worth it only to see it become destroyed

Happy Halloween guys!

here's a better shot of the carbon fiber rock guards that was finished on my car, the rears were a bit more complicated and required some custom brackets to be made. The good news is it's attached to stock mounting points so no holes need to be drilled. As you can see it really helps with my MUCH WIDER rear tire setup in preventing rock sprays/chips on the lower panels!
