F83 Coilover Options

Does anyone know if I can run any coilover options available (KW v3, JRZ RS 2 touring, 3D Design, etc) or does it have to be f83 specific?

I know the HAS kits are f83 specific but are the coilovers too?

Thanks in advance!

I believe the only difference is spring rate - higher rates on F83 because of weight.

KW V3s come with a specific spring rate so you may need a kit that's designed specifically for the F83. However, any suspension setup that allows you to select custom spring rates will work fine on a F83.

What are looking for from a new suspension setup? There are a lot of nice suspension options available for the F8x.

Since it is such a heavy car the Ohlins R&T out of the box will work great on this platform.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Would I need different spring rates ? Or any of the ohlins coilover options would work?

Since the F83 is a good 400 lbs heavier than the F80/82, the higher spring rates will keep the suspension off of the bump stops and provide the ride height you are looking for without preloading the springs too much.

If you would like lower spring rates, we could provide something just a bit lower but not at the same rates some street F80/82 owners are running. Those low rates will cause the F83 platform to bottom out too often.
