"Objects detected on road"

Driving down the freeway today and BAM... Got this message (attached)... Freaked me out a bit then looked over to the iDrive and a similar message there. It looked as though it was related to traffic info but the way it's worded on the dash it made it seem like some object was "seen" by the car and it required me avert. Anyone else see experience this.

Michael Jackson was moonwalking on 95 in Massachusetts this morning.

But in all seriousness, I have gotten this message every so often and never see anything in the road

Warnings like this may be included in traffic data. Once mine warned about a protest march, though I think it was on the idrive not the dash.

offtopic, how did you display fuel range, temp and date time on the dash all together, could not find a setting to do that.

I just had this happen to me. Did know about this feature. Not sure how everyone gets pictures while driving. Guess I am only good at doing one thing at a time.

I don't think so. If you unselect the speed, the temp and time (if selected I think) become static but other options you select are the ones you can cycle through with the "BC" button on the left stick out of the steering column. I leave it on fuel range. I leave the speed display and the speed limit info on the hud.

This service is part of the RTTI(Real Time Traffic Info). It comes from FM stations and the Nav unit scans independently for traffic broadcasts. So the info displayed is as good as the info put in.

Oh yeah it's free at least for 4 years...anything after that will depend on BMW continuing the contract with the RTTI provider.
