Have hope. I plan to pick up one but I do want some options on that car since I would daily that as well. Extended Fuel Range, Front Axle Lift system, LED lights, Etc.... Also, I think its exciting to see people really cascading quality modifications on the M3/4. I think that the looks are just as satisfying as a GT3 after all is said and done. Everything adds up

Arghhh ... This is depressing and I just looked at my AX bill.
I paid 67K for mine with minimal options. I did get the adaptive suspension which I shouldn't have because I've replaced it with coilovers but oh well. After it is all said and done with wheels, tires, suspension, exhaust, random exterior mods, tuning, etc. and labor I will have around $13K more into mine. So $80K total to have the M3 just like I want it. I don't think that is too bad considering some are driving off the dealer's lot with an $80K loaded M3/M4 bone stock. Plus I've come to realize that modding my car is really my #1 hobby. All hobbies cost $$$ no matter what they are so if you factor that into all of this too, I don't feel as bad. There ... maybe I don't need to pay for a therapist after all.

By this logic, there are thousands of $400-500K GTRs, Supras, Gallardos, and Vipers running around. |

Or better yet, how is spending $150k on a gt3 rs which looks EXACTLY like a VW beetle ok? I mean, most people wouldn't know the difference. Hell, you throw on some of those Flower shaped rims and *I* wouldn't know the difference. |

A Huracan, a Beetle and a GT3 are vastly different machines, by miles. A gotdamn Beetle.........remind me never to have you go car shopping, I say P1 and you return with a Toyota Sienna minivan. |

Ok, i'll change my answer to keep my $67k out the door m3 stock, use $70k to get a 997.1 TT. Point being, i love my m3 but as a $60-70k car. |

Who cares if an M4 is over $100k or $130k with aftermarket. For some people it's a project and a bit of self-indulgence to create something your very own. I have done this and and doing it to my Rubicon. Is it practical? No. But if you can afford it without sacrificing savings to each their own.
I would love to see a poll on how much people have spent on their cars plus mods.... |

I think I'll end up adding in about... 7k or so. MPE Exhaust, Dinan Stage 1, iND Painted Grill, and some minor stuff after.

the M3 is great for $70k.
the M3 is terrible for $150k. the 'modifying' culture is to blame. people go overboard on their cars. a couple little tweaks...fine. spending that much on modifications? a total waste of time and money....materialistic excess cannot buy you happiness. |

Someone somewhere is saying that any standard performance street car is even worse than just a total waste of time and money. Even a Golf Gti, since you can get a perfectly decent diesel model instead. A $70 000 car!?!?! Gosh darn it, why waste such a lot of money on a car!?!?
So who draws the line where, who chooses? I love seeing modified cars - I might laugh privately at what I consider poor taste, but love the fact people can choose. Their money, their car.... |

For the record, yes i have modified my cars in the past....and they became (A) less reliable and (B) led to a neverending list of 'future mods'. It wasn't nearly as satisfying as my current 1M which i've kept stock, if i'm honest. |
