Not saying they can't reschedule but they can't just let things drag out by not showing up or have the court assume you are guilty because they gave you a ticket.
Ohh yeah I remember in the LA courts when th cop didn't show .......the judge would say case dismissed due to the lack of prosecution. I guess the court could proceed and I say what happen, and I tell my side, and then I run over and put a cop uniform on and say I made a mistake. . Same outcome case dismissed. Sorry I had to cut a joke. I love when people say something is not true when it happens, and now if he's a LA judge now he has some skin in the game.

Oh, First World Problems and Elementary Math Problems to Solve Life Descisions

OP, was good to see your course of potential actions. We can only hope to learn from our mistakes in life and try not to duplicate them. As others continue the debate on the merits of fight or flight of a ticket fine, I think it is important to remember the following: Power is nothing without control. My CBR can do well over 180mph, the M can do between 155 and 174mph dependent on set-up, it is up to us and our ability to control such powerful machines in the ever changing environment around us. Dependent on our environment we are in, we are capable of fully controlling and using the full spectrum of capable speed. If we adjust to our environment and maintain full control, we should never have to worry about tickets. Yet, still enjoy the awesomeness of our machines.

If Sally passed a car going 5mph slower than her, how much time would Sally of taken to pass the car? Assume 40ft of passing distance.

If Biff passed a car going 30mph slower than him, and Biff was pulled over, given a ticket, fined the full monty, had to show up in court, pay the fine, pay the court fees, pay a lawyer or just pay the ticket and be done with it. How much more time did Biff spend passing the car then Sally did?

I think my 5th grade teacher was right. Math can help you in life.

OP, ENJOY YOUR DRIVE, AND ENJOY THE BREAK THE OFFICER GAVE YOU.

Good to see your integrity. I don't even want to know about your personal life.
My integrity? You're right, I'm the only one who owns an M4 then speeds and tries to fight my tickets. I'm one of a kind.

Why wouldn't I fight a ticket when I get pulled over going 75 on the freeway when other cars are passing me and he gets me? Late at night, only a few cars around, not in a neighborhood with children.

Didn't take the time to read through the entire thread but if someone hasn't suggested this. Why not get an attorney and let him/her manage it? I have friends that get tix all the time and pay 80 bucks for attorney and always walk away with it being dismissed. Pretty cheap considering driving school plus fine will probably be more. Also, you will have clean record.

First of all this is a fairy tale. If the cop doesn't show you just get another court date...they won't just throw out a ticket. Lolzies

Second of all if you fight a cop who was nice enough to cut you a break and drag him to court how do you think he'll treat future M/BMW violators?
Not a fairy tale. All you have to do is reschedule the court date and then after it is reset then if the cop doesn't show it gets dismissed. That's the case in Texas anyway. This is why you reschedule the initial date.

If you look above I suggested the same thing. One other guy said its a "fairy tale" but I have 5/5 dismissed because the cop either didn't show up, forgot his notes, or couldn't prove I was speeding.

Do you really think people are going to go look up statutes for you when the most basic rule of law in the U.S. is "innocent until proven guilty"? If you really care that much about the rules of law look them up yourself or take a class. Plenty of people here have direct experience to render your view meaningless.

LOL there is nothing wrong with paying an Attorney to fight your ticket. I hate attorneys... I would just pay the ticket if it's my 1st offense in awhile. But If I start getting 2 or 3 in a short time-span, yes Attorneys are a must. 3 speeding tickets will have your insurance almost double or more... a 4th one in 3 years will get your license suspended in CA. My brother is an attorney and yes it works.

Oh by the way, i've gotten 50% of my tickets thrown out by the Officer during a stop just by being courteous, apologetic and respectful.

Don't volunteer how fast you were driving, or give a general estimate of how far over you thought you were going, hoping they buy it and give you a lower ticket.

Simply state you were going the limit (whatever it might be). Nothing more, nothing less.

People talk themselves into tickets every day because they think admitting it is doing the right thing, and maybe you'll be let off.... It's not, and usually you won't.

The officer in this case probably couldn't even prove your speed ("Approximate" is a bullshit term which holds no weight in court). You simply just admitted to it - he needed no other proof. Good luck arguing out of your own admission of breaking the law. You're on camera having admitted it too if they so wanted.

Now on the flip side, if you had kept your mouth shut, and he wrote "approximate" on the ticket, a lawyer would have had it tossed most riki-tik, and you'd be a happy, ticket-free person...

this has to be the worst advice ever...Cops hate being lied to and ignorance. imagine someone patronized you at your job.. playing dumb is the worst....I didnt know?....its not mine......these are not my pants.....I have gotten pulled over alot....trust me don't lie, be concerned for you and the cops safety pull over to better location. be pleasant.

5th amendment allows you the right to keep you mouth shut. Even if it is not a crime and only an infraction of a VC.

Obviously but that does nothing to get out of the ticket, it can only help you if you're an idiot and admit guilt and then the officer brings his notes directly pointing out your admittance of guilt.

Best advice: Use an attorney to fight the ticket, if they don't get the ticket dismissed maybe your ticket will get reduced to a non moving violation, then get a radar detector and use waze for future protection.

Okay guys coming from the expert (60+ times pulled over)

Don't lie.

Take your time getting your papers, my drivers license Is under my co pilots seat.

Do not in any circumstances take it seriously. You are the one being pulled over, you are to blame, make the cop laugh.

Your glove box needs to be filled with shit you don't want them to see.

Conversations from the last month:

"I'm sorry officer. You caught me doing 98 or a hundred? Well, sure, its probably jail for me, but in order for me to give you the documents, I need to step out of the car"

"why?"

"my brakes are really, really good. The road was clear, I was going to bypass a truck, and I do that fast. Since I got the alert on my rd, though I knew it was too late, I applied the brakes. Now all my stuff is under the passengers seat. Since I'm European and I don't like guns but I do love cuffs, it's either me getting them or you giving me satisfaction".

..

"my rd is playing up. A hundred you say? K. I've done faster so no denying here"

"meh. They are all there. Yeah, that's my Finnish license..."

...

"no sir. I was speeding. Your rules are stupid and I was not risking anyone. Do you feel like your purpose in life is to stop me who does this in a car made to stop when needed while I'm merely 300 miles away from home buying milk, or you want to go after someone who will be doing this drunk?"

Do not deny anything.

If you are going the attorney route then yes clam up....that is the best advice in ANY legal matter from work or criminal and DMV. Hire an attorney and never use the companies if in deep doo doo. you need someone who has 100% your best interest at heart. SAY NOTHING and as little as possible yes and no be prepared for that fat ticket or bracelets

side note you ever watch the first 48....my god those dudes sing like birds...Half the cases they dont ask for a lawyer and end up confessing. I am not condoning criminal activity but they almost always have circumstantial evidence and need a confession.

you would think they would get some tips from the "wire"(Best TV series ever)

What color is your car OP? That's is the only info we need. So the rest of us won't buy that color because it obviously attracts cops.

lol, OK then, hope it continues to work out for you (and the OP)

Not voluntarily incriminating yourself != "lying", being "ignorant", or being "Patronizing". If you feel that way you're in the wrong country. Last I checked exercising your rights in the correct way doesn't make you a lying, patronizing, and ignorant *hole

Again, you will rarely talk yourself out of a ticket, and more commonly talk yourself into one while also jeopardizing your chances at a good defense. Don't believe me? that's fine.

Oh, and having written a few tickets in my life I might know what I'm talking about...

Police are fond of saying "The color of a car makes no difference whatsoever." Once an LEO pulled me over for speeding in a red M3. He walked up to the now-open window and the first thing out of his mouth was "You guys and your red cars!" No ticket issued though.
