I have the Aluminium trim. Its a grey car with a black full leather interior so the trim brightens up the place massively. I found the CF trim cheap and plasticky looking. It made the car a little to ricer for my taste. It also suffers from less of the squeaks/rattles that the CF trim seems to have.

Guess I'm a moron
To be fair, CF trim isn't a free option here. That said, I really don't care for the look of it inside the car (especially with a black interior). CF is for adding strength and reducing weight ... CF trim panels do neither.

I didn't mean to be abrasive but normally CF trim (the real stuff, not the wrap) costs $$$ and since its now free from BMW, it would be hard to turn down. You can always wrap your CF trim to be aluminum color and I bet it would be hard to tell the difference vs. the real thing.

I have a white car, with CF roof and SO interior. CF is a fantastic accent.
I definitely understand with a black interior the desire to brighten things up though. The Aluminum looks fantastic with the light contrast stitching on the black! |

I think he means that a lot of 320is come with the Silver Matte Trim, at least most of the ones I see. So my brain associates that with the lowest trim/package.

Not EXACTLY the same. Different trims, badges, accents, steering wheels, leather ... but of course, many similarities ... as the M, RS and AMG cars are all derived from mass market variants. As M, RS and AMG owners do (usually anyway), we try to differentiate our cars beyond the mechanical differences (bigger engines, turbos, etc). So we have exclusive trims (eg. CF trims, stitching, seats, exterior colours, steering wheel etc etc) these are only available to M, RS and AMG cars. If CF is a no cost option in your country, I find it hard to understand why one would opt out exclusive CF trims and go with mass market Alu ... but hey ... up to individual I guess ... it's just not for me.
