I consider myself as the seat expert here because of my long experience but also because I've seen kids after crashes. Not my kids, might I add.

After 9kg is full, anything front facing with the damn bulk in front seems to keep the parents and the kids happiest. I hate with all my heart anything that uses other belts than cars own, they give a sneaky kiddo and a distracted parent too many chances to fuck up.

Thanks a lot for the photo. I went back to dealer to try again. Amazingly I found out coupe actually has a lot more room than in the back than convertible. Also it sits better with a leaning back angle. Convertible is much up straight as well as 500 lbs weight difference, I will take the coupe as my choice.

I have a couple pics and details in my thread. Some of the Recaros are too big and at a weird angle for the fixed headrests.

Haha, I couldn't remember either what I have if not checking my mail. This is a question moms have to know the answer, damn dads can just say red for example.

I am thinking M4 at the moment, so thanks all for your success stories! I will need to fit 1 booster behind my seat and 1 forward facing car seat behind the passenger seat. Sounds like that should be no problem at all!

The button on the back of the seats moves them forward automatically. Easy enough to reach in there, unbuckle, and go. Getting the car seat in was a pain (the latch system under the rear window is a little strange), but only took 5 minutes or so. Don't regret going coupe at all.

Lots of room, no issues and no problem getting them in and out. If I had them every day in the car, the 4 door would have been a better choice. However, they are with me often but not everyday and it is zero issue at all
Would love to see pictures of the seats in the back of your cars, would be helpful in deciding what seats fit best!

Which model is that? Looks like it fits wonderfully at these seat angles. I'm actively looking right now. My 2.5 year old is super tall though (>95th percentile on height)

This is the Recaro Sport Combination Harness to Booster. Got this from Toys R Us. Got it on Black Friday for 200 brand new. My daughter is getting tall as well and fits it pretty good. The photo was taken last year in December.

I have the same seat in my S4. It fits nicely and my daughter likes it! I usually buy child seats through Amazon or Albee Baby.

I have 3 kids under 6 (and as I often proudly state a 7 seat F15 X5 50i) but if they have been good the 6 and 3 yr old get to go for a drive as a reward with the one child car seat I have on the rear passenger side of my M4. People may laugh but I love showing off the M4 and saying to people "that's right the car is a weapon but I can still have a sports coupe and room for kids in the back. My wife didn't make me buy a Kia carnival"
--- anyone had experience with genuine BMW child seats???

Sorry to revive an old thread! Could you post the Recaro model this one is? I have a ProRide but it was a tight fit in the E92 and I doubt it would fit w/ the built-in rear headrests on the F80.

I have two kiddos and have been through numerous Graco and Britax seats. I ended up with Recaro Performance Sport seats in both mine and my wife's car. By far the best (safest) and most comfortable for the kids.

You can order them off of Amazon. It's the Recaro Performance Sport.

After reading this, it has fully confirmed my decision on not having kids. They cost too much and are a hassle. Why can't they just sit correctly

just picked up this nautilus 3-in-1 carseat for ym 4 year old.....he has a recaro performance sport..but it's a hand me down from our 7 year old...

hoping this fits in the backseat of my f80 (when I take delivery)..dimensions are very similar to the recaro perf

the recaro fit great in my e90 m3..but the rear headrest was removable..made the high back seat a bit more manageable

is everyone using the top tether latch and just running it over the head rest? just curious how much pressure that puts on the head rest

im using the seat belts instead of latch. quick tip on using seat belts, if you pull the seat belts all the way out, then let it start to feed back in, it "locks" the belt from pulling out, which allows you to actually really secure the carseat very well.

otherwise if you want to use latch, i'd use some thick towels or something to protect the leather on the head rest as they are not removable.

sounds good...I"m comfortable installing either way....looks like I'll be using the seatbelt as this seat doesn't require still curious to see how the top tether looks going over the headrest...most installers and even local law enforcement that do crseat checks strongly reccomend if not require the top tether to be hooked up..I'll take some leather indents over serious injury to my child (children)

really want to see you get 3 seats in the f80...i've seen it done in an e90 m3..so I'm sure this will be more than managable in the f80
