Yea, which is why I'm going with M4 now. It's what I initially wanted haha.

It'll be a pain in the short term, but next thing you know, your little kiddo will be in a forward facing seat. Definitely worth it if you ask me.

Sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but congrats on the new edition! .

It's time to be Santa now for me, and build some 'gifts from the North Pole' into the weee hours of the night.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Baby seats options for M4

So I read some posts and looks like both baby and child seats fit comfortably in the M4 back seat. Those who have these can you please recommend which is the best baby/child seat options without being too big and clunky and where best to buy them. Also I read about the seat protectors, could you let me know where to get those as well.

Thanks, much appreciated!

I recently attended JPMA last week - a tradeshow for new childrens product and innovations. The winner of show for "best innovation" was awarded to his new portable and foldable kids booster seat that is 10x smaller than your conventional booster. It exceeds all safety requirements.

Pretty genius product.... I was able I picked up 2 of them at the show for only $20 each. And my kids love them so far. Its for kids over 40lbs. I started using them on my M4... You dont even know its there.

It's called MiFold:

http://www.mifold.com

Its pretty awesome. Check it out. I will take pics when i get a chance.

Any updates on baby car seat recommends for an M4 when backward facing? I have my first on the way in a couple months and the wife is pressing me to add a car seat on our registry.

I really like the Recaro's, but I have read a bunch of feedback on how the front passenger seat rubs against the top of the baby car seat leaving little room for the front passenger and putting the child in the seat is very awkward and difficult when backward facing. I appreciate any recommends.

Appreciate it if any Recaro baby car seat owners have reviews of it in an M4 when backward facing or other brands that I should consider are welcome. Thanks!

Any update of car seat recommends in an M4 for a newborn? I really like the Recaro's but unsure of it fitting comfortably when it is backward facing for the first couple years. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

well when I went to the dealership, they had all kinds of child seats, they had one from 0 - 1 years, then another for 1 to 4 years which is what I got since my baby was almost 9 months at the time there was no point buying the first.

They all do fit both ways, either facing the front or back so that's not an issue.

Check this for example; https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Seat-ISO.../dp/B01JB6IRF8

Get the BMW of car seats, a Britax. Expensive but well thought out and fairly narrow. I have two in mine, one with the 5-point harness left in and one with it removed (converted to a booster). They are upright so once the kids are tall-enough, their shins hang straight down with plenty of legroom for the front passengers. Comfort for all.

We have the Frontier with clicktight. The best thing about it is it attachs using the car's seat belt instead of LATCH anchors, and does not move a mm afterwards. Also, it fits kids a lot taller than almost all other seats while still allowing the five-point harness to secure around them, then converts into a booster later when needed.

From what I've seen it doesn't seem to be for newborns/infants...am I incorrect?

We have a couple Recaros, Performance Racer and ProRide. My youngest is in the Racer, and I prefer this to the Maxi Cosi car seat I used when my oldest was a baby. My little girl is always passed out in it, and doesn't complain too much, so I assume its an acceptable car seat for a baby haha. And when its anchored in, it doesn't move much.

Best of luck!

Those are what I really like, but are they for infants? Seems to be for 1-2+ age range...

Correct, they are for forward facing installations. Sorry, I didn't realize you needed rear facing.

You're right. When our kiddos were infants, we had Britax I believe.

And the seats I mentioned can be used as rear facing.

check out the Britax Boulevard clicktight.

We have Britax Frontier clicktight (forward facing booster) which we love. and yes, as the other poster mentioned, clicktight is amazing and feels so much more secure than a traditional seat belt or latch installation.

I can not speak to how it is on the Boulevard rear facing model, but would assume it is similar.

Chico Keyfit is nice. We've had three of them. The seat clicks in and releases nicely. Having had an F82 and now an F83, your real issue will be further down the road. The rear facing seat is tough, but doable, even when you remove the seat with the baby ? in the seat. It's hard getting the seat In and out with the baby in it. The space going into the back is pretty tight. At some point, you are rear facing, but you don't take the seat out when you get the baby out because of the size and weight of the baby. That's a borderline unworkable period that last from 9-22 months to 2-2.5 years. Once they are forward facing, the Coupe and vert are very easy, assuming you can open the doors pretty wide. It's tough with the little ones during the rear facing period.

We ended up never using the F82/3 when rear facing was needed. SUVs are made for this.
