Planning to order 2016 M3 ED

Hi guys,

I’ve been struggling with the decision about my next car… primarily I’ve been deciding between M3/M4, Audi RS5, Mercedes C63. I was also considering a 2015 Mustang GT, Golf R and 335i, just because that’d save me some money on long run, and save for a 991 Carrera S. Then, I’ve decided not to waste 3-4 years of my life on waiting and saving for a car, and get something I do enjoy now. All that being said - I finally decided on F80/F82. Don’t really care much about 2 or 4 doors, and M3 being a couple grand less than M4, and having better residual, F80 M3 will be my next car.

I am not in a rush to make a purchase, so I am planing to get the 2016, and would be happy to get the delivery in Munich. So far, for 2015MY the build that I am looking for is about 72.5k MSRP. I am wondering how much would I be able to knock off the price. So far, my undressing is that I can get all these discounts:

ED discount ~ $4500
Dealer discount ~ $4500
Ultimate Driving Events Voucher (not sure if applies) ~ $1000
AT&T employee discount (not sure if applies) ~ $1500

if I’d be ordering today (April 2015), my residual for 36m/10k would be 65%, and MF for ED 0.0016.

I live in GA, so the sales tax would be 6.75% for the total price of the car.

Acquisition fee ~ $895
Other fees ~ $500

All these numbers, are bringing me to about $560/month + interest. If I won’t take any MSDs, then my money factor is 0.0016, so total payment comes up to about $690/month.

Math for depreciation + tax: ((72,525 * 0.35) - 4500 - 4500 - 1000 - 1500 + 895 + 500) + (72,525 * 0.0675) = 20174 / 36 = 560
Math for interest: (61,025 + 20,174) * 0.0016 = 130
Math for total payment: 560 + 130 = 690

Am I right with the discounts and the math, or I am missing something? $690/month with $0 at signing for a 2015 M3 sounds almost unreal.

Ah, you are right... just found out that since Jan 1st 2015 it's 7%.

Can you tell me why would I ask any questions if there already was "the dealer who is offering these prices"???

You need to first figure your build and arrive at the ED invoice number. Once you have that figured out, you need to find a CA and negotiate a price over ED invoice. Once that is established, you can discuss lease terms. That would be my approach. Can you break up the pricing per below:

US MSRP
Negotiated Sell Price (not including incentives or taxes, etc.
Total for All incentives

By the way, UDE voucher cannot be used for Euro Delivery

You are taxing your brain too much without even having a quote in place.. build the car and get a dealer quote and then calculate numbers to arrive at monthly payments which will be realistic rather than thinking what you will expect to get !!!

I would refer you and the OP to this thread.........

I have a lot of responses in there. Pretty much explains the whole process.

Thanks for your input - no UDE discount for ED bumps up the price, which brings the monthly payment to low 700’s.

I did figure out my build. It came up to the US MSRP of $72,525 (the MSRP on which the whole math above is based…). Negotiated Sale Price, is the MSRP minus all discounts (72,525 - 10500 = 62,025). Total of All incentives is the total of All discounts (4500 + 4500 + 1500 = 10500). Hope that answers your question.

Just to be clear - I do NOT need an advice on how to lease a car. I am asking if the numbers I came up with are realistic. So, I guess I have to break it down in several questions:

Is a $4500 discount over the ED price realistic?
is there a employee discount for AT&T, and if yes, is it $1500 as for T-mobile and some other companies?
If the answer to question 2 is unknown, how or where can I find that out? calling BMW dealer only wasted my time in this regards…
Does the Ultimate Driving Events voucher apply for M3 ED? (I got an answer for this - NO).
Is there any other discounts I missed?

That is pretty much all I needed to know before I go to the dealer, and know what to ask for.

In my experience, what you are asking for isn't close to realistic.

#1 ED M cars still eat dealer allocations. They will try to sell all their allocations for as much as they can.

#2 There are WAY less M3 allocations than M4 allocations (we won't know if this is changing until dealers get their allocations for '16 models).

#3 You're buying at the beginning of the year when allocations are fresh. Meaning the dealer has no real incentive to start moving them at discounts. Most that I've contacted were willing to negotiate on 2015 ED orders, but wanted sticker on 2016 ED orders.

If you're happy waiting -- I suggest ordering the car on December 31st, 2015 from the dealer, and scheduling your ED delivery for some time in March '16 when weather has cleared. You will get the best deal at this time.

I was able to get around the equivalent of $2500 off an ED order (on top of ED discounts) on a '15 build because we're nearing the model year end. They were willing to negotiate much more on a car sitting on the lot.

You should not be discussing incentives with the dealer. That is the point I was making. Go in there only with the build of your car and arrive at a number they are willing to provide you over ED invoice. They should also give you their doc fees, Tag/Title fees and any other misc fees if they plan to add any.

Once you have these numbers you can throw in the incentives and have them apply it. The incentives don't come out of their pocket but if you declare the incentives before the negotiation, they try to roll that in and mask the actual deal you are getting.

If you give me the complete breakup of your build I can calculate the ED invoice for you. Only then can I comment on whether it is a good deal or not.

As for the UDE voucher, no it does not apply. I had to fidn out because I am doing a 2016 ED as well. Here is the excerpt on it....

I respectfully disagree. It all depends on the location. Some CA's are offering 1k -2k over ED invoice. You just need to shop around. I was lucky to find two locally.

Also fleet discount cannot be applied to ED:

Quote:
The Fleet incentive cannot be used in conjunction with other special BMW NA purchase programs such as the BMW Car
Club, BMW College Program, BMW Group Partner & Family Program, BMW CCA program, European Delivery, Diplomatic,
USAA, Military Sales program, BMW Limousine & Hotel Shuttle Program and / or the BMW VIP Purchase Program, which all are not eligible.
Alpina vehicles are not eligible.
- Source : http://bmwgroupfleet.com/

As others have mentioned, negotiate from ED and up. Sounds like your choice is either ED or using the fleet discount and UDE voucher for stateside delivery. They may end up to be about the same, except you'll be missing the ED experience.

You were able to get that when the allocations were fresh? That's my primary concern I suppose but I agree on location. I could have done better on mine out of state but had a car to trade. Also -- I think $2500 off an ED order at his price range would still be around $2k over invoice wouldn't it ? Or is it a fair bit more than that?

I was able to secure 1k over invoice for a 2016 ED. I understand the pricing hasn't released yet but the agreement is over invoice, whatever that may be for 2016 if there is any change. My point was that a lot of dealers will not budge from MSRP and there will be others that will be willing to do 2k-2500 over ED invoice. And then finally you can find a few that will be willing to do $1k to 1.5k over ED Invoice. You just need to do your homework and be willing to contact many dealers. I am fortunate to have over 10-12 dealers local to me within a 75 mile radius.

Sorry, I misread your post. I sat in a RS5 for an extended period of time and also ended up driving one. The transmission didn't feel nearly as good as the DCT on the F8X and overall the car felt heavy. The rotors are known to vibrate under 10k miles. They can change them out and the problem still persists. Check out the Audi forums as it's a well documented issue. Audi as a whole has more reliability concerns than a BMW and that was enough to turn me away.

Thank you guys for your input! Now I get a good picture of what I should be expecting, and will plan accordingly. As I make the deal and get the order in, will post here, or will start a new thread with my ED experience.

Can you pm me the dealer/CA you worked with? I'm not doing ED but I'd be OK with $1000 over US invoice.

I will for sure after the pricing releases and my deal materializes. I know they do this only for so many allocations.
