Ceramic Pro PPF & Vinyl

Hi all:

Hopefully someone can chime in and shed some light on this. I am going to put PPF and ceramic coating on my car and I understand the PPF usually goes on first then the coating because of bonding concerns. Ceramic Pro PPF & Vinyl is a product that claims to have better adhesion to PPF. It consists of a base coat and then a top coat and both of these are applied on top of the PPF.

Someone told me alternatively, one can apply the base coat first, then put on the PPF then layer the top coat on top of the PPF. Meaning the PPF is sandwiched between the two coats. I do not know if this is the correct approach (since CP's own website said otherwise) but like to get some expert views on this.

Thanks in advance for reading!

Seems like an expensive overkill that won't net you much. PPF with coating on top is the most I'd do. I don't see the point of film over coating.

Well that product comes as a pair, so I do not think I am paying extra for an additional coat. It is just the ordering of coating application that is different. So the way CP pitch to use it is do ppf first then base coat then top coat. What I was pitched is do the base coat first then ppf then the top coat.

yes!

It goes, wash, clay, polish, wash, wipedown, ppf, wipedown, coating application.

I haven't used the CP line up in a long time, since they first came to the OC area, but I would just do Ceramic light topped with Sport. I have heard mixed reviews on the PPF/vinyl stuff.

Or, if you are close to shineshop.ca/ go and discuss things with scott

There are numerous coatings out that will work over PPF.

Modesta BC-05 is a great one.

GTechniq EXO is a great option as well.

That is really dumb. There is no reason to put ceramic pro under PPF. The CP PPF and Vinyl is a base and a top coat that are both meant to go over the PPF.

I've always put the PPF first, then a coating. A coating under the PPF won't do much- if anything at all.

it doesn't, and also the coating under the vinyl will void the warranty of the film

I am going to use Xpel so it won't be cheap and obviously we don't want a void warranty on that!
