- put it back to ID5
- tell your dealer that you have problems with _______ in the iDrive (pairing your phone, CarPlay (if equipped), audio, whatever)
- your dealer will update the car firmware to the latest version
- code it back to ID6_Light
- you may see an "X6" as your graphical vehicle

I'm assuming my firmware version just doesn't have all the graphics the newer firmware versions do.

I also checked BAUREIHE and BAUART in HU-NBT2.

BAUREIHE was set to F86 by default (correct)
BAUART is set to "coupe". BAUART has choices of coupe, cabrio, compact, limousine, sicherheitsfahrzeug, touring, sports_activity_tourer, light_protection, and gelaendefahrzeug.

I tried sports_activity_tourer but no change to the graphic. I'm guessing if the firmware had the proper graphics, the BAUART field would be set to the corret default (whatever that may be).

Correct. It is not a matter of changing FDLs; instead, you just need updated software on vehicle. I am not sure whether there is an F86 image, but there is an F16 as shown above.

Which FDL Code do I have to choose for changing the vehicle image?

I do not know all the vehicles supported in latest firmware. In earlier release, closest thing was a 3 series.

I have a '16 F31 with NBT EVO and my version info shows id4 plus plus, when i attempted to switch to id5 lite or id6 lite, my navigation becomes unfunctiinal. it would display insert usb with activation to use navigation.

Have anyone ran into this when changing the versions??

You cannot simply code ID5/ID6 on ID4++ system. It requires new firmware and FSC set.

That is not recommended and definitely not doable by official BMW dealer.

• A ID4++ HU_NBT2 system comes with 2GB of ram. Update is warranty-voiding, one direction procedure that results in frequent reboots.
• A native ID5/ID6 HU_NBT2 system comes with 4GB of ram.

Besides issues above, you have to remove FSC's, purchase and insert new set + patch system, and trick system into installing "custom" firmware not designed for hardware.

A '16 with ID4 requires different hardware, software, and FSC codes for ID5/ID6.

A '17+ with ID5 can change between ID5 and ID6_lite through coding alone.

On a G11 7 series that came with iDrive 5 + touchscreen + gesture control what would be the correct setting to change to iDrive 6 UI, the id6_light or the id6?
