I still love the frozen look, I'm considering going for it whenever I get my M4.

If BMW came to my house and said "Here take this car and drive it, it's yours." I would drive to the very first person I could sell it to.

Agree... but the M4 looks far better top down.

I worry about upkeep on Frozen paint finishes. Little scratches on normal paint can be buffed out with my Porter Cable. I anticipate that taking a Porter Cable to a frozen paint job will not end well.

Frozen can be ruined by drying to hard with a towel. Unless you wash your car yourself, don't even consider matte paint. You will just get your heart broken.

I think the rear would look at lot better with the top down... and more of a spoiler on the trunk. It just doesn't do it for me like the M4 Coupe

Correct. Caring for frozen paint is nothing short of difficult. Dust and light dirt can just be rinsed off and carefully dried, but any nick, scuff, or scratch cannot be buffed out at all as you'll shine the finish in doing so. Washing has to be done with special Ph-neutral soap.

I would think this is in fact frozen red. We sold one here maybe a year ago and it just came in for service the other day, definitely does look a bit orange from some angles/lighting setups.

i've owned a Frozen paint job for a while now and no, you can't simply buff too hard and end up with a shine.

a Frozen clear coat is as durable as a gloss clear coat.

the only way that can happen is if you don't use a wax or soap that's designed for matte finishes.

sorry, you're not correct. caring for a Frozen paint job is pretty easy. i'm an owner of a frozen grey and it's been easy to take care of than my gloss job cars. the clear coat on Frozen finishes don't require waxing....it's just soap, water then drying. that's it. if you find that difficult....then you should worry.

small scratches are actually hidden by frozen clear coat because of it's very nature to not reelect light back at you. on gloss jobs, theses are always noticeable.

you can further protect your frozen paint job by adding a layer of special wax if you choose. just like a gloss job, doing this will give your car that added protection against small scratches, dried water stains, bird shit and bugs.

again...if you can't do that for a gloss job, then you'll find that difficult on a frozen job.

there is only one legitimate concern about owning a frozen paint job.....and that is repairing it. from deep scratches to collisions ....any repaint will be expensive because there are few paint guys that can do it well.

you can protect yourself against the deep scratches however by getting an spell stealth clear bra. i have that over the whole front end of my car.

if you wan't to hear from actual frozen paint owners over rumors , go to this thread and find out for yourself...

yeah....that video does a horrible job of explaining something that's fairly easy to understand.

but what that video does say is that that frozen clear coat is as durable as a gloss clear coat .

again, hit the link in my above post. there's really no reason for any frozen paint owner to lie about their experiences.

Looks great with the roof down only. hate the bmw convertible roof up lines. Ugly. So many car makers have gorgeous lines with their hard top roofs (Ferrari 458, Mclaren 650S). Why can't BMW figure this out?

Also not a fan of frozen paint. Like many others in this thread I too wish this trend will pass.

you are 100% right my friend, frozen colors are only for guys who wash their cars by themselves (like me...lol) but its maintenance is easier than what you may think

Me to I'm a detailing freak, but I like to polish my cars to much. Would miss my orbital to much.
Would rather spend the 5k that frozen paint costs and have someone wet sand one of the factory options.
