See, that's exactly what I thought. Some are saying it's more stiff though.

No way! I'm cross shopping an M3 with an M5 and X5M. I'm not really looking to save a few bucks. Otherwise, I'd stick with the 320i and save thousands a month if not more, including gas and insurance in there. I'd like to stick with BMW too. I've have a very good experience with them since 2008.

What I love most about the M4 is its dual nature. I find it to be quite comfortable (coming from an e90 335xi). It has no difficulty soaking up miles in relative comfort. Plus I found there to be a major upgrade in the interior moving to up to an ///M.
I have two settings on my M buttons. M1 is for relaxed driving that I typically use in the morning where all settings are optimized for comfort and when I have the stereo cranked. M2 has everything in Sport Plus, M display on the HUD, tranny on three, and MDM engaged. These are two very different animals to be sure. One is a polite, polished and well-appointed GT cruiser that belongs in polite society. The other is a full on freaking maniac that will rip your lungs out Jim. (There are in-between settings too for those seeking a more moderate path). So yes a 335 might be able to manage the Dr. Jekyll part quite well, but the M3/4 is no slouch in that regard. On the other hand, the 335 ain't no Mr. Hyde.

I think the perfect balance between sporty nature and comfort in a sedan is definitely the 335. The lower models cant offer the pleasure of power, and the m3/m4 can never be AS comfortable/efficient. If you want track capability/ and some comfort then m3/4 is the only way. If you want great comfort, fuel efficiency, and the ability to really have some fun, look no further than the F30...just make sure you get DHP.

It is significantly more taut than the E90 M3 I had before but also more planted. The passive suspension in this car is marvelously tuned to get the best out of the chassis. It's not uncomfortable but highly communicative, even more so than in the E90 M3. Again though, please drive one and decide for yourself how you like it. The difference in suspension to your F30 will be immediately noticed and the noise level. It's no luxo cruiser but also not an uncomfortable car. Other than the steering this is NOT another F-series BMW that has gotten softer than the Es. It has gotten more hard core, thank god.

I currently drive a 650i xdrive and already did my ED on my F80 m3. The M3 is really not that far off 6 series comfort levels. . . I've said it before, but I think this is because the runflat wheels on the 6er paired with the 20 inch wheels are probably too stiff. My last car was a 2011 335i xdrive which I loved (coupe). I would say comfort wise the f80 and that car are pretty close. . . In terms of driving experience, if the m3 is 5% less comfortable then the 3 it is 150% a better all around car to drive so its not even a question of which to buy if money isn't the deciding factor. I honestly don't even see it as less comfortable then my 335.
Now if you're a 1 car pony and you live in a place with bad winters, xdrive is a different requirement I suppose, and the 335 will offer this. That aside, you have the following two options the way I see it: Test drive both cars and buy the one you like driving better. OR Buy a 335 and NEVER EVER EVER test drive the m3

I own a 2012 335i Sport (with M-PPK and exhaust). Still under warranty, but will be looking at the next ride this summer. M3 is at the top of the list. I won't track it; I rent caged cars when I weekend race - so that aspect is out. I want something nicer and faster basically. S4's are quick but blah and I hate the seats. The ISF's you can't disable T/C I hear and the M 63's are crazy expensive. Didn't hear good stuff about the F10 M5's but perhaps I should look into a used one - They run about the same as a 2015 M3 nowadays.

60 miles Mustang story
Quote:
I have Audi 2.0 TFSI 2006 in Europe. I tested Mustang 5.0 here in US. I expected much faster car, but it was big disappoint for me. After tasting I was asked what I thought about the car. I said that up to 60 miles so-so, nothing special, after 60 miles like rocket. The dealer said to drive it more on highway. I knew that I did not want to but it, but why not to drive it. Nothing special, the same story on highway. After I left the car second time two guys from Ford. One of them says that they did not have guy who has said that it was not so fast up to 60 miles, after that much faster, so he wanted to see me. He says it is true, because it is made in that way not to eat gas so much. Can be some tuning, but again, it was not enough for me. I am old guy, but no more than 40.000 miles in my life with car... |

That is it
Quote:
So, I have just 2 type of driving: Be polite, respect all speed limits, or do not care for any speed at least 20 miles more. Once police stopped me and told me that he has to check my speed twice. The first time he thought that something is wrong with his radar, it was 90 miles (allowed 55), so he checked it again, 89 miles. But it was Buick Enclave. Another time in Florida, I was told that if 2 miles more, I would be in jail. That is all my tickets. |

I dunno guys. I find my M3 to be more comfortable than my Ford Explorer. I have about an hour commute each way with traffic. I fidget constantly in the Ford, but the M3 I have yet to get leg fatigue. Maybe because its a manual. The seat cushioning on the M3 could be a little better, but its not too bad. I am also on stock 18s and passive suspension.

My two cents here having owned a 328 and now a M3. M3 is a very comfortable and versatile car. Agree with previous posts. Don't drive the M as you won't go back. Great DD in my opinion.

I went from a 2013 335 xdrive M sport with DHP to a 2016 M3 ZCP with full leather and all the trimmings. The 335 was definitely a smoother highway cruiser but felt somewhat uninspiring. It was capable but never felt particularly special. The xdrive and run flats dull the handling. It is also slab sided and doesn't really look all that sporty. And the interior wasn't special. The M3 is a totally different animal. Every drive is an occasion. If you are tootling around, it doesn't beat you up too badly. When you go for it, it puts a huge smile on your face every time. It really comes down to what is most important to you, comfort or performance. I am an enthusiast and I want to be excited about my car. The M3 really does the trick for me. The 335, not so much.

The only reason I would stray from an M3/4 is when I get sick of the high payments. Then I would simply have to move to something else a bit cheaper and get a break financially. But I can't really see changing a thing about it for a daily, other than the abuse the thing gets from traffic and what not.(rocks chips, etc)
