Uh...because raspy exhaust sounds terrible? A smooth low tone or mellow drone is way better than an obnoxious rasp that only progresses to get louder and more annoying with increased rpm's approaching redline.

Any chance in hell BMW is still working on the production version of the exhaust and doesn't want too many videos of this current one around?

Am I dreaming here because I think I am haha, something I've been thinking (hoping) about for a while.

(This is obviously the most inaccurate estimation as to why and just makes me feel better. Realistically, I think it is due to the aggressive acceleration that these individuals are probably instructed to avoid)

Wow so many haters. Even if it sounds not great in the vid you should wait to hear it in person before judging so harshly. All these die hard v8 guys act as if that's what's been in every M car til this point. Lets not forget even the older M5s were straight 6s. This is nothing new. They downsized the e60s v10 an thus downsized the e90s v8. If you don't like it stick with what ya got. I wasn't a fan of the 328 going to a 4 banger. But that's why I don't have one.

I was behind a camaro zl1 today and it sounded awesome. A very nice and deep bass-rich tone. Not sure how the sound from the f80 would compare.

I think it sounds sweet. Kinda sounds like a cross between n52 with a pe and a stock e46 (if you can find what a stock us e46 m3 sounds like anymore
