Wow, just looking at your logs. Fuel trims look nice. AFR looks nice, ignition is good.. and this is with only 4 psi additive... ow man your gonna make me get a back end flash throw in some E85 (actually only E54 in my state)

Thanks for the post. Fairfield/Vallejo/Napa use to be my old stomping ground... great place to drive.

Not sure why you listed the runs with torque spikes of 1rpm lol and makes the graph look unreadable.
Move the numbers below the curve for better viewing

I share the same sentiment, but don't worry, this thread is only about a Map 1 run. I'll be sure to obtain a readable graph next time, so the online experts can chime in

To be honest, the unreadable graph is partly my fault since I thought I'd save the shop owner some time when he offered to e-mail each run individually, but I opted to have him send me the graphs in as little effort as possible before walking away to help undo the dyno setup. I was being highly considerate of everyone's time given that the dyno session has been a 3 hour ordeal; 5.5 hours including wait time. There was another customer waiting to get dialed in at 7:30 PM on a Sunday, and he's been there since 10 AM. Anthony@Hybridworks is about as busy as the busiest man you can think of, but he was more than accommodating when I encountered technical difficulties on my end.

So as you can see, there's always a reason why things are the way they are. I could've chosen not to explain what happened, but that wouldn't be nice of me at all. If you're curious, Runs 03-08 are me messing around with Boost, Duty Bias, FOL, Fuel Octane and Throttle Adaptation with a little bit of VP Racing MS109 added towards the end.

Map 1 was on 5 gallons of pure E85 as tested with the Fuel-It! kit. I definitely did not expect to see 533whp out of it.

Yes, I've noticed plenty of empty back roads around these parts of the Bay Area, but good for you for moving out of California!

I have the BMS stage 1 plug in tune. Could this be used with the MHD tune to achieve the same results? How much for the MHD with e85 map?

The JB4 offers more tuning parameters, but Map 1 is mainly just a +4 psi boost additive, so I don't see why JB Stage 1 units wouldn't benefit from a BEF the same way. It's best to e-mail terry@burgertuning.com for an official response on this, however, as my take on this is only theoretical.

MHD flasher is $299 for S55, the JB4 BEF maps are free of charge.

JB4 Map 1 (Stage 1) E85 BEF Dyno | 533whp 571ft/lbs

That's a fantastic deal. Thanks for the information. I'll have to email burger about it. I think the burger plug in makes the zcp 515hp/500tq. How do you guys think this would compare to the bm3 tunes? 570 torque is a lot. Does it feel like a smooth power delivery?

It's not a bad deal at all. My previous JB4 Map 1 (no BEF) dyno was at 481.81whp and 474.18ft/lbs. 570 ft/lbs of torque IS a lot, but it's not as noticeable in Map 1 as it is in Map 2.

I couldn't tell you how JB4 Map 1 w/ full E85 BEF would compare to other Stage 1 tunes, and I cannot say it's a fair comparison. The only "Stage 1" tune that would be remotely close to the numbers I put down would be VF-E's, but their boost target is set to 24 psi.

I think the purpose of the JB Stage 1 tune is to have a decent amount of extra boost without having to worry about anything else, like logging or adjusting other parameters. When you start throwing in BEFs in the picture, then I would advise to heavily consider going with BM3 if you want access to a full flash tuning platform. Otherwise, you'll only be able to take full advantage of the JB4 BEF maps with an actual JB4 unit installed.

That makes sense. I just didn't want to have to spend $1200 for the full BM3 and custom E85 tune if I could get close to those numbers utilizing the BMS stage 1 and a MHD BEF for $300. Thanks a ton for the dyno graph and information!

So does the back end flash actually flash the ECU? So the JB4 is just running in Map 4 to control things? Confused on how this is actually working .

I received a reply from Terry from BMS (in like 10 mins, of course), and he basically said that the stage one plug in "might work," but they would be a hack. The BEF maps are meant to work with the JB4 specifically. I hope I'm summarizing correctly. Fantastic support from the BMS guys!

BEF is a reference to a stacked tune setup where both piggyback and flash exist, so yes, the changes are flashed over to the DME.

Map 4 is used for logging purposes only, but the BEF will work with Map 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. Refer to the following link for more info: https://goo.gl/NnVezS
