Ok, let's try this a different way. Mass market products shouldn't be functional only to those who "know what they are doing." Not a very good product in my opinion. But hey, enjoy IE and Bing. You and the other 2 people who prefer that setup are probably very happy.

Ok, way too off topic now. I was only messing around with someone, but you can't say anything around here without someone's feelings getting hurt.

True, but for some reason I just don't have the desire to use it on my temporary replacement.

You would be shocked at the large percentage of home burglaries that happen through the side door of the garage, as there are usually no motion sensors in Garage and people leave garage door to house interior unlocked.

I sealed that door for good long ago.

Hahaha, good point, I noticed Vista as being outdated but didn't realize the scheme was circa classic 1990's. Not even a bookmark bar!

Thanks to the super-slick Connected Drive app I was able to locate the car in a few seconds and point the police in the right direction, and they had the car back without incident that same night. The car is currently stuck in impound on a police hold while they 'process' it, so I haven't been able to see it and they won't tell me what kind of condition it's in...so I'm just assuming the worst.

I'm trying to stay in good spirits, as things could have been way worse had we been home at the time, but the anxiety of not knowing the condition of the car is starting to wear on me a bit.

On the bright side, it seems our pup doesn't mind having a bit of extra space to sprawl out.
This is my worst nightmare. I live in Los Angeles and there's a huge problem with theft, vandalism, hit n' run, smash and grab, non-insured drivers, etc. I've decided to protect myself by investing in a $350 Blackvue New DR650S dash cam from Amazon.com[IMG][/IMG]. Very discreet, wifi enabled and has a parking mode hard wired with shock sensor that automatically records events while I'm away from my M4. There's an available 2-channel (rear cam) as well. Highly rated and a small investment to reduce your liabilities. Hope this helps

OP, the pain of what occurred fortunately is but of material items and i am pleased the idiots were smart enough to wait until you left. This could have been so much worse. It is unfortunate you domicile was broken into and things you worked hard for, were taken, but fortunate no one was physically hurt. It is so aggravating that people operate regularly on the basis of thinking they are entitled to take what is not there's and are so brazen to do so. I hope your well being is recovered faster than your things are.

My problem is I don't drive enough to keep the battery charged enough to keep a camera running - and mines a daily driver. Even with the extra battery mine would be running out all the time.

Ironically, when I first got the car last year I bought that exact setup, but decided against installing it. Now of course I wish I had kept it.

Question, does the camera upload videos automatically, or do you need to trigger it somehow? I'm wondering if in cases like mine and the car is stolen and they happened to take the camera, if some of the footage would be saved in the cloud. Obviously no upload while driving the car due to no Wi-Fi, but maybe for a few minutes while the car is still in the garage and thieves are walking around/getting in.

Also, update regarding the car. CSI is expected to examine it today (fingerprints, DNA, etc...), so hopefully that means I can get it back (or at least see it) within the next day or two.

Car theft is a real issue across the pond here in the UK and its getting worse by the day with with brazen violence being used, issue is that we cant defend ourselves here with the use of reasonable force let alone deadly force, the cards are stacked against the victims. Glad to hear to hear all ended well !!
