Should I trade my F80 for a Macan S?
Hi guys.
What do you think about trading my M3 F80 for a Macan S? The thing is, I have 2 children, and I never get to use my car. Since it is kind of a drag and small, we always end up in my wife's X5. This is my second F80, and to tell you the truth, I'm kind of tired of it. So what do you guys think? By the way it's YMB with Full Amaro. Really nice.

Having a porsche is nice. But the Macan is only really worth it in the Turbo configuration performance wise for me. When I test drive the GTS and the S it was such a let down. For that price, I would wait on X3M to come out in the next year or two or maybe get the X5M since it is about the same as the Macan Turbo properly optioned (at least here in the US).
Another option is to put your name in for the MB GLC63S. Now that will be fun to drive

I have a macan gts and an m3.. macan is way heavier. Also interior is tight, not much more room then the m3 at all. Gas mileage is pitiful. The macan is really nice but no m3 replacement

How old are your kids? Unless you have two fear facing child seats the F80 should have plenty of room.
That said, we always take my wife's SUV when transporting the kids as it's just easier. But that's what two different cars are for... |

Eventually change is something that is bound to happen for the good and bad. The Macan is a fantastic vehicle ,but as others have said, I'd strongly recommend the turbo so you don't miss out on the power!

I might be inclined to save even more and just get an SQ5, F-Pace or BMW / MB equivalent. The Macan is nice, but not sure it is worth the premium over the others.

I have an M4 and a Cayenne GTS.
The Cayenne is an exceptional vehicle. It drives like a sport sedan.

If need something bigger and sporty seriously look at Range Rover Sport V8 - Cheaper than Macan Turbo, about same price as specced out Macan S. Sound and power can't be beat. Torque vectoring standard. Does not roll in turns (feels better than the numb M3 steering does to me)...sportier than most Macans and none of that AWD crap. And its freaking fast and growls like a beast (averages 24 mpg in my wife's hands). Get the middle of the road Meridan sound system ($875)....best sound system I've ever heard in any car and used to build competition stereo systems...its a truck and not a car-turned to SUV Q5, X5, Cayenne, or Macan...sorry just saying...at least do yourself a favor and test drive one because not many here will believe me...

Hell no. Macan is sloooowww, and overpriced. Imo Porsche is overpriced even by German car standards, but I'd take a 991.2 Carrera or just about any Turbo 911.

Keep the M3 and get a Macan too
Actually, my wife and I are going to the Porsche dealer this weekend to drive some Macan's. I drove an S a few months ago and loved it. We might trade her X1 for it. |

Oh hell no...
The performance delta is huge, and the Macan is a small SUV - so when you take into account the fact that the M3 has the fold-down rear seats, the Macan doesn't even really offer any real advantage in passenger/cargo space. Stick with the M3... all day long. |

Yea. I personally wouldn't cross shop an M3 to a Macan. And I wouldn't have ever thought of giving up my previous M3 for a Macan.
But if your family has 1 SUV, why do you need another? I'm glad we take my wife's SUV for family outings. I don't know how old your kids are, OP. But we have 2 little ones, and those 2 little turds make a huge mess in the back. I love my kids dearly and would do anything for them, but they can make a mess in mom's car, not dad's. |

Short answer, no.
Long answer: Keep the M3, (As long as it is a manual), or trade it for one that has a manual. Don't get the Macan, unless you are adding to your fleet, in which case get the 911 to add to your fleet first, than get a X5M, and then if you still want to get the Macan, still don't. |
