Stop armrest sliding?

Before I pull it to bits to DIY it, anyone done this before? There are how-tos on replacing the armrest, so getting it off and on is easy. FYI I have DCT and am tall, so I want it right back permanently.

Does your just slide easily/freely? Mine requires some effort to slide so there is never any accidental movement.

Same here, I need to apply some force to have it move forward. It has never happened that it moved when I didn't want it to and I lay my arm on it all the time.

I've had mine slide forward unintentionally several times. It happens when I am slouching in the seat and used it to grip to push my body back up into a normal upright seating position it will slide forward. It's kind of annoying but doesn't happen very frequently. If there is a way to get it to not do that anymore I would like to know as well.

You can get an F30 arm rest that doesn't have the sliding feature. I find the sliding annoying as well. But I think I'd just get the CS/GTS version that just deletes the arm rest.

Don't think that would work, f30 uses Dakota leather so it would look bad

FYI, the non-sliding armrest is also a standard part on the F8X.

The sliding armrest is actually an option that you guys are getting standard in the US. My 2015 M4 has the fixed center armrest from the factory.

See post above. You can get an F8X non sliding armrest in the right leather.

You’re in Canada. Very possible you have the non-sliding version.

I like mine in the forward position most of the time, but need to slide it back to activate the top from the console, or to turn on the neck warmers if the top is down on a cool day. I like it.

i prefer mine sliding all the up i get more support on my elbow with it pushed towards the front , on my i8, the arm rest is so much lower i find myself uncomfortable with no support for my right arm

It's funny because us F30 guys are spending the premiums to retrofit the sliding armrest. Sounds like most folks who already have it don't necessarily like it.

How did you reach that conclusion? I think it's just the opposite, most people love it since you can slide it forward to provide support for a more natural arm resting position.

Yeah if anything, in addition to sliding, I wish I could adjust the height of the armrest as in my previous S4 or wife's Q5.

Your right - I misinterpreted the folks who have challenges with the arrest sliding on its own and the convo about the option to not have it as "not liking it".

I take it back.
