What is my car worth? Selling and need advice

Selling my 2016 F83 sadly. Just had baby and not going to be driving it as much. It was a weekend car and only has 12,900 miles. Trying to figure out what I should try to sell it for considering it is highly modded and basically in perfect condition. Spent close to $17,000 on mods. I know I won't get close to what I have in mods but figure it is worth something. Car has driver assist package, extended leather, LEDs. List of mods is:

20" Vortsteiner Wheels-$4000
KW HAS Spring Kit-$1,000
Wheel Spacers-$250
Carbon Brake Pads-$100
AWE Exhaust-$3300
Exhaust Tips-$100
AWE Midpipe-$400
JB4-$815
Charcoal Air Filter Delete-$0
Reflectors painted/Black M4 badges/Vents painted-$300
Carbon Fiber Front Splitter(M Performance)-$600
Front Spoiler Paint Match(M Performance)-$700
RKP Rear spoiler-$900
RKP Rear Diffuser-$1150
Side spoiler Match Paint(M Performance)-$950
Carbon fiber mirrors(M Performance)-$1040
Black Grill(M Performance)-$450
Tinted windows including front-$300
Stainless Steel Pedals(M Performance)-$200
Carbon Fiber Shifter(M Performance)-$260
Paint protection & Film(CQuartz & Xpel-1200

NADA says $68,000 retail $70,000 certified pre owned for reference.

Between all of the mods and the considerable depreciation we're seeing, you need to prepare yourself for unhappiness.

These threads always make me laugh.

-Mods never bring value back - you should go back to stock and sell the mods seperately.
-Pricing is regional. Look up the NADA/KBB guides in your area and go from there.

Want more money? Sell it yourself and deal with the hassle.
Don't care as much? Trade it in and move on with life.

While your car is low mileage, you wont sniff anywhere near $70K for it. Maybe upper 50s if its truly pristine.

If you dont want to part it out and you are in no rush your best bet is to just throw it up on the classifieds here and see if you get any bites. Forum members here are not shy about telling you directly if the pricing is ok or not lol.

Unfortunately it's quite the contrary. The mods are worth little to a private party and practically zero to a dealer. If you have the time I would strongly suggest parting the car out. Presumably many of the M Performance parts are port installed so you should realize a slight bump in trade-in value as these items are tied to the VIN. For everything else you can recover ~$8,500 of your initial cash outlay. I'm sensitive to this as I buy parts so I preserve original boxes to the extent possible to facilitate resale. Very few of us are keeping these cars long term so I view this is best laid plans.

Anyhow, prepare yourself to take a substantial bath if you decide to take it to the dealer for trade-in. Private party may fare better but don't forget the tax savings offset you'll lose and the PITA of selling private. Tax is TN is around 9% (or higher) in most counties so that could provide to be substantial. Good luck!

Some of those modifications will actually reduce value to a dealer since they will not allow the car to be CPOd.

As others stated, need to part out and return to stock to recover a portion of mod investment, prepare for an enormous hit or figure out how to keep the car.

First off, she's beautiful...good job. Second, prepare yourself for a bit of disappointment and headache.

Personally I wouldn't touch a pre-owned car with a tune. Not sure how the general public would feel but that may even reduce value a bit IMO.

I'd throw it up here for sale and see if someone that appreciates the tuning wants to bite and make an offer.

My plan is to take mine to CARMAX when the day comes, get an offer, and then post it up here and autotrader for 5% more and see if anyone bites. If not, CARMAX it is because I just don't want the hassle.

+1 on private sale.

Selling it to someone who appreciates the modes would be your best bet in recouping value. You might want to try an exotic consignment shop, if they will take the car

Otherwise, parting it out and selling to carmax is the easiest move

Part and sell. You're not going to be happy with what you get back though. Seems like the people that _really_ wanted M3/M4's got them early on and now BMW dealerships can't move them so they have been incentives to get them off the lot.

You can also try kbb Instant Cash Offer. I’ve done it once and it was decent. Higher than Carmax for sure. YMMV

Not sure why people keep thinking mods are worth anything on a used car. Might as well flush that money down the toiled unless you part it out.

The market is saturated with used M3s right now, and with new ones selling at $4-$7 thousand below MSRP, it's gotten even worse.

Just another reason to lease while the residuals outperform the market.

I think for M3s, since BMW made so many, that may in fact be true! The discounts and incentives at the beginning were non-existent, but that certainly wasn't the case in 2017!

Unfortunately, with so many deals, especially lease, on MY 2018s, the private sale market is dead too. The private sale route will be full of people looking for a steal. They will be looking at dealer trade price + maybe 5%. The mods will net you nothing, they will only make your car stand out from a similar optioned car.

I crunched the numbers and came out with about $20k. I'd be willing to give you $25k because I like you.

Thank for those that were helpful, surprised by the amount of dick remarks. Was asking people's advice, don't think those were warranted.

One thing I'll tell you is, as the others have said, sell the parts separately.

Congrats on the baby!

I would advise and hold the car unless you need to free up cash. You spent the time and money to get it customized to your liking why not hold it a bit longer. The baby won't be a baby for long, and you'll be driving the car with the baby in it in no time.

Do you still have a loan on the car?

Maybe you could try and sell the aftermarket parts, but find someone to take over the payments for you? Might be another option other than finding a buyer.
