Another oil cooler puncture
Was only 1/8 of a mile from my house. Hit a newly formed pothole with a bulge of road sticking out. Happened in the fog and didn’t see it in time. Hopefully I can make a claim against my town, if not I guess a comprehensive claim with my ins company. Thank god for this board or else I wouldn’t have checked under my car and noticed the slow leak and might have fried my motor the next time I started it.

Sorry to hear.
I made a claim against the state of FL for a traffic cone laying in the middle of the road that I couldn’t avoid running over and they paid the full cost of the repair. I went out of pocket rather than insurance, filed a claim with the state and waited a couple of months for them to review and reimburse. Hope the same works out for you. Good luck!

Sorry to hear this. Mine was a ladder on the freeway, which also punctured my transmission cooler and radiator, all to the tune of $5100. Insurance covered it. Hope your claim is successful.

Regarding if you have to do an insurance claim, from my understanding if it was an object in the road that you hit, it would be considered a collision. If it was an object that hit you (flying debris, etc) then you can claim it under your comprehensive coverage. This is according to my insurance agent, when a flying tire iron hit my hood at 75 MPH 2 months after getting my car.

I'm so glad that I installed a Turner skid when I installed my front splitter. I hate reading these stories. I just hope nothing small bounces up into the opening.
Good luck. |

I ran over a sharp curb, completely my fault, and it damaged the oil cooler (no leaks, just dented the fins). I’m thinking I should be proactive in the future...

Don't know where Dr Who got his/hers, but Turner Motorsports or ECS Tuning have them (search for "skid plate").

mine is manufactured/milled from aluminum with excellent TIG welds by "Fall Line Motorsports", in the USA. I got it from "Ind-Distribution". It's a little pricier, but the "Turner/ECS" model has large open areas and a lot of unions and rivets which, in and of themselves, could be points of failure and potentially add to the hazard. Remember, you're purchasing this for a specific reason. It's insurance, all paid for up front, so don't chintz here. "Ind." has sales periodically (-> 11%) so keep a look out or contact Nate directly and he would be more than willing to work (12~15%) with you. Cheers! |

hey! yessir.
Long story but here it goes. I have 2 kids (3-6) last year. My Nanny's car broke. Gave her my truck and I needed something for winter and the maintenance was ridiculous in the w205 -cost me 2k plus was going to be another 3k for brakes (all in 20k miles). I traded it in for an audi. After another year of driving my little one got into full time pre-k. decided to trade the audi for a mt m3. tdlr needed awd so sold w205 for audi, didnt need awd anymore so decided to do a mt6 f80. I miss the v8 but besides that the mt6 is so much more engaging. |

LOL damn you. Man, my automotive adhd is killing my wallet. If you could throw the v8 biturbo on the m3 chasis with a stick, itd be the best car under 125k without doubt.

same shit happened to me, except mine was just bent and not leaking, a week before it was scheduled to sell no less, had no choice but to do the right thing and get it repaired, $600 though, not $800-1000 like some of these people paid
