Trade in my 2018 M3 for a different color and ZEC?

Hey guys, OCD man has a plan. So back last summer I unfortunately rushed my first order of AW 18’ ZCP to get free icon headlights (some know what I’m referring) but order flipped from 112 to 150 so fast and was during a time when my mother had a health issue. Needless, couldn’t make any further changes.

Fast forward 5 months, Now my dealer can buy my out of my car and give me big discount on A Mineral grey ZCP with ZEC they have in stock. I get the color I wanted and ZEC and Will only have to pay the difference in car cost ~4K..

I’m prepared to get chewed by some.. but I spilling my guts in hope that others have considered or made this type of move. Please help, thx!

What are you thinking about? This is a non brainer and you won't have such an opportunity again in the future unless you sell your car at a loss. You are just gonna pay the difference for the addons now as if you didn't lose anything.

also, that will erase any buyer's remorse you may or not have had.

Don't think twice, go for it and when you do.... Pictures or it didn't happen

That’s my thoughts as well unless you can break down your original purchase price, trade in value and new car price.

How much did you put down upfront on the current car? How much is the big discount on the new one?

Roughly I can tell you I paid 67,500 for 72,495 sticker. So, 5k discount last year. They will buy me out for 64,500. But sell me a 76,500 sticker for 68,500.

The sales tax basically washes out. The 3k loss in purchase price made up in 8k off sticker on new car. So, with no extra money down, note will be 4K more.
Hope that makes sense.

I did luck out and get the “free” icon 552 LED that are supposed to come only with ZEC. I was one of the lucky ones that got upgraded lights without ZEC. But still no HUD or extra cameras

Great deal but do you know why they are selling u the new car for more than 10% discount off the sticker price , is that a demo car and how many miles on the new car ?

Trade in price is also great

ZEC is used by BMW and some forum as short for executive package.

I’m a big car junkie nerd and sometimes people have no idea what I’m talking about... should’ve included a legend

Oh and ZCP = Zee Competition Package!

That 4k can get you a flash tune and bolt-ons for your current M... OR full leather and some cameras? I didn't spring for the zec on my 18 zcp so idk if I would make the jump.. I like MG over AW but I think if it was an individual color it would help the argument to change cars.. My .02

Solid points all around. Tune would be nice option. Individual colors tempting. Nardo, champagne quartz, tanzanite are all amazing.

On a side note BMW.de has San Marino blue on the builder as a standard metallic color. Wonder if that’s option is coming stateside?

GO for it. Just do it. Thinking too much is a curse. Make decision and stick with it.

Buying an M car is an emotional purchase not a financially "smart" one. Since you've clearly already gotten past "so you're going buy a ridiculous car ..." your only choice is to go for it.

Isn’t this trade-up costing you $7K plus whatever monthly payments you already made over the last 5 months? You’re taking a $3K loss on the trade-in and paying $4K more and your lease/finance terms basically restarts. Assuming your monthly payments was $1K, you’re facing a $12K swing?? For that money can’t you get your existing car wrapped any color under the rainbow + some sweet mods to go along with it?
