I thought buyer has full responsibility as buyer inspects the car before they buy. Hiding accident record is different story. Most the time buy and sell is "as is"

I'm not how sure that's relevant though, just in this case. I would imagine anyone looking for a GTS knows what a GTS is and would immediately look at the car and know it's not right.

I think, if anything, the dealer got hosed through their fault or not. I know dealers are the enemy a lot of the time but I do feel bad for them in this case.

Feel for the dealer if they got hosed. But the right course of action from here is self evident, doesn't involve an oblivious ad and attempted sale at going market value.

I absolutely agree with that. The dealer should edit the listing and price accordingly.

But, assuming the dealer knocks off about 30-40k for all the missing parts, this would be a great buy for someone who wants a track car and was planning on swapping out some of the oem stuff for track work anyways. (Brakes, seats, aero adjustments).

I think this car is screaming for a GT4 conversion.

Agreed, as long as the water injection system hasn't also been pillaged and the KW's swapped for passive dampers!

Not one to buy sight unseen...

The KW's are already passive but I would need to see the knuckles. But I'd swap them out for some super trick stuff like ohlins or MCS, again if the dealer knocked off 30k and you wanted to go full Racecar.

I mean base F80 passive suspension Point is, what aren't we seeing. But yeah, good candidate for full race car at the right price.

Gotcha. I forgot you could even get passive dampers on an F80! Haha.

Dealership would win. Summary judgement.

Nothing in their ad is fraudulent or false advertising. The car is an M4 GTS.

Some parts have been swapped, but unless the dealer is specifically falsely advertising OLED taillights, carbon brakes, etc (things that are not present), you have no case.

When you sign purchase documents on a used car, one of the required documents is the FTC Buyers Guide, which states the car is sold as-is with no warranty. It is up to the buyer to be informed.

They're not going to change the price or the (limited) description. They're looking for a dumb schlub to walk in and buy it without asking any questions. Then that poor sap will come on here and realize he bought a hamstrung GTS.

I naively assume the car is probably worth $65k based on low mileage F82 Competitions. Would make for an expensive donor car for a caged track build, but it would be fricking sweet.

Just need it to drop to $30k so I can warrant gutting and caging it. Would be awesome to have a track beater GTS and a canyon GTS.

So..... what do you all think it's worth???? 30k off the listed price??? This obviously has no collector value but it's definitely worth more than a Competition. So what is it?

If we've captured everything that's missing, not sure that it's worth more than a comp in the current state. That's a seriously diminished GTS.

As the base for a track build, 50's comes to mind.

Given everything that was removed, interesting that one component appears to have been unnecessarily added to the car, a "wing spoiler."

And with that addition, it (arguably) comports in full with the Monroney label published by the dealer, unless I'm overlooking something.

Also appears certain obvious high value items that are specifically indicated on the label -- 666M + Cup 2, titanium exhaust, front and rear carbon fiber bumper inserts -- were bypassed.

So spoke to the original owner, turns out the owner was looking to recoup some of the depreciation he incurred and took the parts to use on another vehicle build / sold the rest.

At the end of the day..... cant blame him.... he also didnt sell it to the dealer, it went to auction... so not like he really went out of his way to screw anyone over.

Don't see it on MMR. Obviously Manheim isn't the only auction around, but odd that it isn't on there.

I mean, if the guy disclosed what he pulled off the car when he sent it to action, then that's fair. But, that's not the impression I get. Seems like he pulled stuff off that wouldn't be noticed and tried to make back money for the deprecation on the car. He owned it when the value went down, but he wants to trick someone else into paying for it? Not someone I'd want to deal with.

Obviously there's not much love for dealers, and bidders at actions should know what they're buying, but I'm not sure that makes it right. I hope anyone looking to drop 90K on a M4 GTS knows what they're looking for and will steer clear, and this current dealer will probably be left holding the bag, but again, the original seller was the one that started this bullshit to cover depreciation they experienced while owning the car...

Yep, his prerogative. Not a fan of the apparent current shenanigans.

Private parties can't put cars into Manheim or similar auctions. So, unless he has an automotive business, he most certainly traded this car in to a dealer or sold it to a place like CarMax. That's the only way it could have ended up at an auction.

Unless he outlined all the parts he pulled before selling, he lied via omission.

The car just disappeared from cars.com a few hours ago.
Either it sold or we upset the dealer. Had to hide the listing in shame..

Better than hundreds of dealers including the authorized ones putting normal M3s as "CS Sedan".
