In the old days the ice would not have been waiting there for the people who show up to pick up the kids, hell you remember that Bush dude I complained so much about? He was great!

I didn't like Obama's drive for deportations much but I don't like anyone as a rule. But this is now insane. Those people are old enough to have kids. They must have had a bad situation, even a minor when they've been parents. A broken arm or an allergy scare. They must know how being a parent makes you think of safety.

the Supreme Court ruling on the muslim ban wasn't surprising

it is a sign of a major problem when the decision of a court can be predicted based on the politics of the judges. as a lawyer....that is unfathomable to me. that is....a really, really big fucking problem.

....unfortunately, most americans are so used to their Supreme Court being so politicized that they arent even fazed by that part of it. In my view, nobody should know (before an argument is even made) what the result of litigation would be. That is the very definition of prejudice. (literally: pre-judice. deciding in advance)

yeah, i think it is a bit of abdication of GOP responsibility to blame the dems for trump.

• as though the GOP didnt know EXACTLY what they were voting for
• as though there is some equivalency between dems (who are annoying) and trump (who is a racist, sexual assaulting, narrow minded, moronic, orange, xenophobe)

i think the GOP voters need to figure out if they put party first or country first. doesnt seem a hard choice to me, but i live in a country with 3 main political parties nationally and some different ones provincially and have voted for different ones at different times so....i'm not super-duper wed to any one party.

....but as i said in the now-deleted original SSOTT thread, i think trump's support is probably a good percentage the people i spoke about above (who are happy with what he is doing and happy they can be more open about their awful views) - a percentage i think is growing. i think that, say, 2 years ago more of his voters were just partisan republicans who were going to vote GOP but as time goes on....those two groups start to blur and the 'average GOP' voter starts to embrace their 'deplorable' side (as ms clinton once labelled it)

its 100% anecdotal, but the number of folks i know who held their noses and voted trump but who will now start to defend his policies...is growing. hell, look at the entire GOP caucus in congress. what was once something they condemned is now stuff that is ok. the voters feel the same way.

so, no, i dont think is about the democrats, this is about people giving trump a pass who need to take a much harder look at themselves.
