DD does not necessarily mean "traffic" .
I find regular DSC just too bloody intrusive. Euro MDM is just perfect. Quote:
Sport+ is a bit too twitchy for street use. It is perfect for high speed high RPM driving, very precise. However, it can make driving jerky at low speeds or when taking off from a stop. I have to admit, I go back and forth between Sport and Sport+ Engine setting for sporty street driving. But I generally prefer the Sport setting. Quote:

There is no true equivalent between the adaptive and non-adaptive. However, comments from BMW mention it fits somewhere between Sport and Sport+.

Since start settings are, "Efficient/Sport/Sport" I use M1 "Efficient/Comfort/Comfort" & M2 "Sport Plus/Sport Plus/Sport Plus" with traction off. Driving in M1 most of time to keep it kosher. :-)

Well with the mods moving things around it does make things a little confusing. Post #86 was originally posted in the thread "preferred drive settings". I posted 3 preferred setting depending on the context: DD, Sporty-street and Track. I am not sure why it was moved over here. In this thread, I always used "Suspension" because the is what the OP requested. I just used EDC in the other thread. BTW, EDC is how the "Adaptive Suspension" was called on the E9X .

I just wish they would have made Efficient/Comfort/Comfort the default start-up (or even user configurable) so I don't have to waste an M-button for my DD setup.

Right now my M1 is Sport throttle, Sport suspension and Sport Steering, MDM, with M View on the HUD. M2 is my night/highway/cruising setting: Efficient throttle, Comfort Suspension, Comfort Steering and regular HUD display.

You just opened my eyes to something. I found it slightly annoying that I had to re-configure my M-button settings every time I was at the track and then change them back after the track day. I just realized all I need to do is create a third user profile in iDrive called "Track" and program M1 with my dry track setup (Sport+/Sport+/Sport+/S3/DSC-off) and M2 with my wet track setup (Sport/Sport/Sport+/S2/MDM) in that user profile. When I get to the track, I simply have to switch to the "Track" user profile in iDrive et voilà. After the track day is done, I simply reselect my personal profile for my street setup . Note: You don't need to change keys to change user profiles Thanks again for that flash

I just went out and programmed my "Track" profile in my car. So profile-1 is my Street setup, profile-2 is my Wife's setup and profile-3 is my Track setup. I did as you suggested and programmed button 6 to toggle between my street and track profiles. Further than just the M1 and M2 settings, I also changed all sorts of stuff between my street and track profiles. For example, street -> track profiles:
I also changed the programmable buttons for track functions:
This rocks

That is awesome, specially that profiles are not tied to keys! I thought they were. So when you choose a key, what settings/profile does the car use?

The key remembers the last profile that was used.

Just to clarify though, I don't mind the pressing of buttons. What I find annoying is having a wasted configuration (the start-up configuration) on a highly configurable car. I was happy to hear that we would get 2 M-buttons on the F8X as on the M5/6 for two levels of romp modes . When I found out we were getting the fixed and useless (to me) Efficient/Sport/Sport start-up default, I figured that I would simply press the Suspension and Steering buttons twice each when I drive off and be done with it. But very annoyingly, when you switch off an M-mode, it reverts back to the useless default setting instead of remembering you last setting . That means I need to waste an M-button for my DD comfy setting .

Very good Point Sir "CanAutM3" ;-) ...@Racer20: Did you switch off DSC completely on the track?
I chose "pussy mode" on my M1 for warm up EDC: comfort Steering: sport (think it's perfect for everything) Transmission: D2 Throttle: efficient DSC: on M2 for going fast on my Blackforest roads (many nice turns, little traffic, superb surface) EDC: Sport Steering: Sport Transmission: S3 Throttle: Sport+ DSC: off I'd love to have third M button where i could store my M2 set up with MDM and S2 Transmission (as S3 doesn't really work with MDM/DSC and cuts your power abruptly) |

CanAutM3 You've just made my day and maybe my week with that info. That's really awesome for switching between DD and track setups without having to worry about extra keys. Damn!!! This needs it's own thread.

M1: Sport Setting
- Throttle: Sport - Suspension: Sport plus - Steering: Sport - DSC: MDM euro M2: Daily Setting - Throttle: Sport - Suspension: Comfort - Steering: Sport - DSC: MDM Euro Once my winters are on I'll reprogram them to something like this: M1: Hoon/Deep snow - Throttle: Efficient - Suspension: Comfort - Steering: Sport - DSC: Full off M2: Daily - Throttle: Sport - Suspension: Comfort - Steering: Sport - DSC: MDM euro I think I'll need efficient throttle for slippery conditions and being able to go DSC full off with a couple taps will be beneficial to avoid getting stuck. I'll test it out when conditions warrant it. |
