Dan is a great reviewer, has huge knowledge on the f8x having driven it 10k miles himself.

He does a great job summing up the good and the bad of the f8x chassis.

Good review.

I found myself rolling my eyes on a few of the cons.

Seats would be uncomfortable on a long road trip.

Size of the left side arm rest.

No door pocket for a wallet or other items.

Personally the only one I could see an issue with is the lack of right side arm rest.

However, this car is in between the Comp and the GTS. Some amenities are expected to be excluded.

I am excited to see how the vehicle turns out and to get behind the wheel of one. (Which is too fat for his tiny hands...)

They are valid points still.

I drove my M3 4,000 miles in Europe when I got it. To go to my favorite race tracks (VIR and Watkins Glen) it's a 4.5-5 hour drive each way. The lack of a central armrest and the annoyingly sloped armrests in the door cards would definitely take away from the enjoyment. And for what?

I doubt the doorcards save more than 5lbs, and another 2 for the central one. It makes absolutely no difference to the performance aspects, none whatsoever.

Anyway, the most glaring omission as far as I'm concerned is the lack of a manual transmission. That's what really takes me out of consideration.

I guess it all depends on driver seating position. Typically when I drive my left arm is out the window or on the window frame. Never really rest my arm on the arm rest.

I had an e46 and the leather cracked on the center arm rest. Which made for an unsightly look. As far as center console contents I have a small pack of tissue, a few business cards and a few pens. All which could be relocated to the glove box.

Those points could be valid to some. Mute points to others. We can all agree it will be a phenomenal vehicle.

And I, for one, cannot rest my arm on the window frame as it is uncomfortable to me even in several different BMWs. On long journeys, I rest my arms on both the arm rests (the sliding centre one is genius) so I can see why the CS/GTS could be uncomfortable to some.

I've had a look in ETK and if the numbers are true, the weight savings are minimal. Think the standard stereo actually saves some weight compared to Harman Kardon. What would save even more weight are manual seats... Yet, I have seen only memory seats in CS press cars.

From the reviews I've read thus far, quite a few press cars had manual seats.

I, for one, would still opt for the electric seats. With two drivers in our household (for both our cars), it is very convenient for the seat to automatically adjust for each driver when they step into the car. I was actually worried that the CS would not be available will electric seats.

I think the single zone climate control also saves a bit of weight over the dual zone with less ducting, dampers and heat exchangers needed.

When does production start? Firms like RW Carbon will source a knock-off for 1/3 the BMW price once spare parts are available.

Disappointed that no manual option, if it's a track day car, then why Carbon Brakes are optional,
Is it just me who thinks that £95k for M4 is too much??? Or am I just missing a point completely?

With the LCI car, DTM, GTS and CS all out I can't help but look at them all and think they still haven't made the perfect M4? For me if I could pick every OEM variance individually, I'd have:

Water injection engine with 500hp
GTS/CS Bonnet
CS lower front bumper lip and rear lip (you could make GTS parts optional easily I feel)
GTS Suspension
Grey 666m wheels from the DTM edition
DTM front canards and side skirts
Titanium exhaust
Rear diffuser from DTM/GTS/CS
Normal door cards, centre console etc from normal M4
Nobody cares about the tail lights

That's because CCB suck for track rats (they are cost prohibitive for frequent track use).

Oh, I use the memory function too - one for getting in & out and the other for my normal driving position, but I really dislike how much higher the seating position is. There's at least an inch difference between manual and memory seats, in both E9x and F3x models. And since I'm 6'1" with a longer torso, I want to sit pretty low.
I'd really like to know why the hell BMW are not able to engineer them seats better.

I think some markets in Europe don't even get manual seats while some do, even the civics.

I do agree with most point above. They should have kept more of the performance elements of the GTS while retaining more of the DD practical elements of the M4 CP.
