Thanks everyone for all the information and opinion's on the 2. There has been some great comparisons and it has been very helpful. As I said before I am leaning towards the M4 for its all around use and also because I like dealing with BMW much better than Nissan. I do have another question for GTR owners. What did the GTR cost in maintenance per year? I know the first year when bought new there prob was not much but what about years 2-5? What was the average spent for oil changes, brakes, and other things to keep the car running at its best?

I dont have the numbers, but have seen it broken down on the GTR forum. The maintenance on that car is heavy and very expensive.
Performance wise, it cant be beat. 11sec 125mph stock without hardly even trying. Just the dated look from 2009 is the biggest downfall. |

I did see a few different threads on the GTR forum about the cost, but nothing with a breakdown of each thing like: oil change, brakes, 20,000 mile maintenance etc. The threads that did have it in there everyone had a different price for it. But I have heard they are very expensive to keep up. That may play a roll in what I decide.

Stock hp was 485. With about $2000 in mods I am probably pushing 600whp. I have considered going to more aggressive tires, but there really hasn't been any need. |

Maintenance wasn't bad, although I never tracked it. The $1600 fluid change you hear about can be done for $900 or so. In my opinion not much of a big deal....... however if you do have to change the brakes the dealer charges $5k+ but I believe aftermarket options would be around $3500.

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. I read somewhere about the transmission fluid had to be changed frequently in the GTR is there any truth to that?

US Oil change remains 6 months or 6,000 miles US Trans and Diff change is 36,000 miles and it states it is performed based on mileage only (not service months) Although I'm not sure if anyone waits 36k miles....... that seems awfully long. |

And most people don't change their oil every 6000 miles, because it isn't necessary. Oh, and I'm still on original brakes on my car after 3 yrs. |

AI have done this multiple times. When I got my 2011 Lexus IS-F (traded this in on the M4) I told them I wanted to drive it for the remainder of the day and they let me. I kept it for roughly 5 hours. My wife is much more aggressive and usually asks for a weekend in a loaner of a model she wants and usually ends up getting it.
Looks like my IS-F is still for sale there http://www.bmwstore.com/used/Lexus/2...1f7675029e.htm Quote:

Not my issue but cannot help myself: OP keep your 435 for a few years and then get a 911. Or a used 458 Italia. If you are looking to spend ~$85K and if you lost an average of, to be very conservative, $7K on each of your 39 new cars you would have ~$358K to spend now!
BTW Consumer Reports surveys show Nissan is at the bottom when folks report on dealership experiences. Additionally, when they ask people if they would buy the same car again Nissan models are at or near the bottom of every category. Nissan (and in my experience Infiniti) are nasty as hell to deal with by consensus. |

Jeff4598 My total loss on the cars I have owned is much lower than that. When I said I have owned 39 cars that was a lifetime total, and not all of those were brand new. I was going from back in high school to now. Only 12 of those cars were bought brand new. And many of the older cars that I had I made money on. Back before I started to buy new cars I would get a car and put some work into it, then when I got tired of the car I would sell it and move on to something else. Many times I would make a good profit which would allow me to upgrade the kind of car that I got. I didn't start buying brand new cars until I was 25. But none the less still a very interesting way to look at money spent. I think I might try to sit down and calculate how much I have spent on all of my cars.. I may cry after seeing the total..hahahah..

If I wanted a sports car with an automatic gearbox I'd probably rather a gtr over an m4.
It's more special to me, and performs much better. I also would anticipate the resale value to be better. That said, as your only car it may get old over the course of time... I think the m3 is the sweet spot with 4 doors, performance I can't fully exploit on track (though I can try!) and a manual gear box. :twocents: However, at that price point and desire for a small 2 door car id own a 991s, zero if ands or buts about it |

The newer 2013+ GTR is the better car. The newer year GTR the better ride, tranny, launch control and refinement.
I do advise experiencing the GTR the hyper car experience. If it wasn't for the insane power I would say the car is not really fun to drive. The M3/M4 has the same problem with a large footprint and ultra high limit making it boring for street driving. If your area can handle the GTR and not get keyed go for it. As a daily driver I would vote on the M4. The reasoning is because, I feel the M4 would be a better pick based on areas most people live and travel to. |

OP just rent a GTR for a weekend then decide. I crossed it off the list after spending time with it. Particularly after tracking it. Fast yes but way too much understeer (and I'm used to driving Audis). Yes you'll be faster than everything else (except for modified GTRs) but you'll be utterly bored

I experienced this exact thing in mdm mode in my f80. Any mdm intervention in a corner entry or exit on track (happens all the time, very intrusive) will result in artificial under steer to counter potential oversteer. It feels horrible and makes the car feel much less nimble as a result. So the car may not have a ton of under steer naturally, but can appear to have it when the nannies are on |

I'm talking about corner entry understeer. I agree with you that it does power oversteer on corner exit very easily. There's also no reason to drive the GTR with the nannies on
