Hmm my production date is 3/16; had it service for 1,200 mile about 3 months ago; dealer did not mention anything about any recalls; but is there a way to find out if my diff is part of the defective list?

This type of recall gives me a decent warm fuzzy about BMW "trying to do the right thing". The bolt replacement wasn't in the tech manual and they probably could have just let it go with them using the old bolts. But, even on a small batch of needed fixes, they are trying to make sure it's rectified.

Just great. My production date is 7/14/16. I purchased my M3 a little over 3 weeks ago and will be taking it in for the 1200 mile service on Monday. I just hope I'm not one of the 200.

Damn, now I'm recalled
So, I took ED of my ///M4 on July 6th in Munich. The delivery stop and recall was announced shortly after, but limited to something like 220 cars. I emailed my CA from Europe asking if my car was part of the recall, and he said "no," and I confirmed that by checking the recalled VINs.
My car finally made it to Oxnard on September 2nd. It didn't get released to trucking until September 23rd, delayed at least a week while they repaired some minor damage to the bumper. I booked a train ticket for Monday, October 3rd to finally go pick my car up after a 2 1/2 month wait. Then... I just got an email last night (Sept 30th) from my CA: my car is in fact recalled for the Diff, and that he could have the work done by the end of the week; did I want him to do the work and put off redelivery for yet another week. This time I said "no," I'll pick the car up on Monday. But damn, they had my car at the VPC for over three weeks; why could they not get that work done down there!! Very annoying.

So are the 2017 models exempted from these recalls?
I ordered a 2017 M4 but it'll take 1 month till I get it. Should I be worried? My VIN says the car was manufactured on 23-July-2016 VIN says it's an M4 (EUR) model Last edited by Super Spartan; 10-02-2016 at 02:25 PM.. |

I just called BMW here in Dubai and gave them my VIN and they told me there is no recall request on my car. I hope I can trust that.
