Nono,

Are you positive I cut the red section off? Because Im about to do this one more time today.

Thats a big chunk to remove.

Since I only cut the vertical rubber off the first time, and was able to install it just fine (other than the inner rubber flap secition I should have left intact being missing) without the red section removed.

Looking under mine, doesnt shows why that part would be removed or not, but since Im on my 2nd set, I want to make sure I got this right. Sorry to ask you again.

Thanks man,
D

yes soft rubber and that thin area that looks like a dotted area about 1/2 in into the plastic.
Nothing else needed for a clean install.

Ok thank you again, I will give this another shoot at my earliest convenience. I'll try and take some pics to help the others.

FYI, I am working on getting the parts together and understanding them. Makes a lot more sense now that I am seeing the parts in person.i know you complained about the BMW directions not matching the parts but if you read carefully on Page 5 where they have the parts list, it calls out the individual nuts bolts in Pouches 1 through 7 and the parts I received have them labeled the same....1 through 7. So really this requires some good reading before jumping in.

On the Instruction Manual the pouches of parts are under letters.
For example Letter M will be pouch # 4 and so on.
You were asking so many questions and you did not even had the parts in front of you until now. Now I know why you were so worried about getting answers.
By the way there is one pouch that even reading the manual 20 times I almost did not get to use and that was the Pouch #3 which is letter J in the instructions. Just in case I mention it, because it is hard to see where it will go.

Thank you. After looking at the parts in person the instructions are starting to make a lot more sense now. The only part I need help wth is the cutting. Need to know the exact spot to cut. Before you take close up pictures can you please zoom out and take a picture of the part first. It is very hard to tell the orientation and identify the part when you zoomed in all the way.

Thanks.

The cutting was much easier now that I understand the templet. You literally line it up and part that is indented you cut off. Pay no attention to the third hole on the templet. I'll pic it tomorrow.

I don't think I did J screw?

My garage door came off the track so Im behind on getting to the DIY. In the mean time, you can look at these to get the idead. Look for the lines. You cut all of that along the white line. Zoom in on the rubber flap side. You will see white vertial line. Thats exactly where you cut. Just like NoNo assured us.

I changed the orientation of your pictures to make them all in the same orientation. Less confusing that way.

What are you using to cut it. Dremel can be used as long as you keep the rpm low.

I tried added 1/4" inch wide double tape to mine and the foam was much taller than the tape so it didnt hold at all.

If you are installing the bottom lip, if not worry about tape as you will have 6 set screws going through the bottom of the carbon splitter and into the bumper they are covering anyhow.

Blows me away we have had this car a year plus and there is all this misinformation on this lip.
I have the same splitters with the foam piece. Why not try to double up on the 3M tape? Two layers so it becomes the same height as the foam piece and sticks.

I thought about doing that. But my tape was 1/2" wide and I had to cut it to 1/4th which was a pita. But that might work.

Then again, I honestly don't think you need any taPe.

The foam squeezes down and hold them pretty good.

When I put the lower lip on and was drilling holes into the splitters, to hold it up, the splitters wanted to move around a little.

So I think keeping them a little free for moment and fine adjustment is fine.

Once 6 screws are in it, they will not move at all.
