I've had both and I love both but the carbon on the M Performance knob doesn't match the carbon trim on the car. Plus the alcantara boots don't match unless you have the wheel.

does anyone know the weight of the m performance shift knob and also for the stock shift knob. Trying to get a more weighted knob.

Maybe its just me i dont like the m performance knob, its very light weight and does not help in shifting fast. Infact the stock knob feels better

i ordered an aftermarket knob and will be selling the mperformance knob, please pm me if you are interested.

I like this and I want to pull the trigger but I don't know about the matte carbon on the knob. If it were gloss it'll perfectly match everything else.

Maybe BMW scratched the idea of a glossy knob because you could lose grip on it?

ind has a gloss one, be prepared to pay 540 + shipping though for just the shift knob and boot

That's for the gloss e-brake handle. I'm talking about the shift knob itself.

it's an f30 knob which i think matches their matte carbon interior trim. if they made a gloss cf knob i would want that instead. i think it still looks pretty good and i love the stitching of this boot. this is definitely one of the more expensive mods for what you get, but it makes me happy every time i see it.

So when I had my e82 I bought the performance knob and e-brake handle and I remembered that I had to remove the boots because I had separate alcantara boots for the e82. So I dug these out and swapped the leather boots for these. They look amazing and match the stitching on the seats and armrest.

Hi Paolo,

are you saying an E82 boot fits. So that one could buy this:

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...ion-alcantara/

and use it on the F80?

No I took the carbon performance knob from the f30 (by removing the boot from it) and used that boot (the link you posted) on my e82.

I did this..bought the mperf knob with boot with the regular white stitching for 179 and redid the stitching myself. could not justify the $355 for an ind one. took a while but came out decent.

These guys sell alcantara boots with stitching for very reasonable prices but not for F30. Since they sell them without the base frame, could one not buy a boot from them from another car and use it on ours? Anyone know if the F80 base shifter frame is similar in size to another BMW?

Is it possible to mod the m perf knob yourself to get it lighted? Wonder if anyone has tried or what kind of work it entails...
