Kind of off-topic but thought it worth the ask.
I'm going to have my indie do it. It's worth the price of admission.

Retractable license plate

A couple issues I can see: 1) If a cop sees you from the front and pulls you over for no plate, he's not going to be fooled; 2) Some cities, like my Portland, ticket you when parked for no front plate, so you need to remember to deploy it whenever parking on the street. 3) It lowers appears to lower your front clearance, which is already low, by 1.5".

I personally do not like the tow hook option because it really brings attention to the plate when it sits on the side of the front bumper.
I like this one. I'm not going to try to hide the plate, just don't want to drill holes into my bumper. The only problem I see is that the opening under the front bumper seems to have a protruding lip all around, so I'm not sure the double sided tape will help. Will be relying largely on two small screws, so not sure how secure it will be. Was this an issue on your 135?

yeah, will have to do some thinking between something that is just quick release versus an auto-hide.. either way though, there's going to be some additional space taken up underneath.

True, but just try the whoops forgot to put it up routine. If not, it's only $25. Thinking of mounting it in the opening below the PDC's.

There's no temp sticker. I'll have plates on the back, just have to figure out what option I want to go with to mount the front. Will be sitting on my dash till i figure it out - I can get a ticket still this way because it's not mounted.

You can zip tie it to the front until you make a decision.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I've emailed US Mill Works about this before. Brad said the tow bolt will be different but the rest of the kit would carry over (from E92 M3 in my case). He doesn't have anything right now, but when it's available, you should be able to order the bolt from the "QR + Parts" link on the home page.

Front parking sensor compatability

Doubt any of the tow hook holders will work with front parking sensors?

I think if there is an adjustable version, meaning where the tow hook can connect to different areas on the back the license plate holder to avoid blocking the sensors, it should work. I have seen one somewhere on the internet, it just wasn't for BMW. The angle was also adjustable so you can make the license plate hug the bumper or be at 90 degrees to the car's center line.

I have never had a front license plate on my 2002 E46 M3 and have never gotten a ticket for it. I have gotten a fixit ticket for a cracked windshield which seemed to be a rock magnet.
