Tire Pressure?

CanAutM3 , I know to check tire pressure right after a session, and adjust down to around 35psi all around once per day. Now given this track has more higher speed than St-Eustache, does my cold tire pressure need to be increased above the recommended OEM 32psi?

The printed manual says to adjust to 34F/37R psi for speeds above 160km/hr for the stock 255/275 19". Not sure if I'll get up to that speed but just wanted to know what's the best tire pressure strategy to avoid any surprises. TIA.

What tires will you be running?

Sorry I thought I said stock, the MPSS ones that came with my car in their original configuration (255/275 35R19). I know they are not the best but I am still feeling my way about tracking in general, so I thought even if the MPSS are worn after track days, then I'll update to other better tires later on! Merci.

I would aim to keep the PSS in the 36~39psi hot range. Don't worry about cold pressures when running at the track.

Grid Autosport

I know some guys recommend playing racing video games to become familiar with the track. I found "Grid Autosport" on PlayStation Now that has Mont Tremblant circuit. What a nightmare playing it with a joystick, and that track is freakin scary even when playing it in a video game!

One of my best friends is instructing there this weekend (and is there today as well). I think he is also doing the classroom debriefs as well. If you see Christo, tell him Larry says hi! (though I just talked to him today anyway)

Thank you, but our lapping day is Monday, August 1st, will he be there? I was also lucky to have an instructor Daniel at Autodrome St-Eustache that rode with me for two sessions and he will be at LCMT on Monday. He was my all time favourite so far, as he also has a BMW and he helped me improve my braking by a lot!

But he also told me that with this outing organized by VAG Motorsport, that no instructors ride with beginners, which is contrary to what VAG told me when I paid... and that is freaking me out a bit... though your and CanAutM3 's written notes, YouTube vids, video games help a lot!

Unfortunately not. He's from the Boston BMWCCA chapter and it is a 3 day event there that ends Sunday.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't have instructors for novices for your event. Have a blast!

I usually always do the Bimmers across the border event from the Boston club. It's a fun event with many fun folks attending. Unfortunately, we're away on Vacation in Spain at the same time. I have to say, I cant complain much sitting on my balcony in Barcelona sipping on a sangria .

Nice! I would always do those events too, until relocation to Seattle almost 4 years ago. I love LCMT, but Watkin Glen is still my all-time favorite for both historical value and an amazing and technical drive. However, Laguna Seca is best for plain all-out fun. I'm pretty fortunate to have done a lot of the East Coast and West Coast track, plus some EU ones.

Have fun with your sangrias! Best one I've ever had was on Las Ramblas.

Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the track. I am also happy I could help. The club you ran with does not seem very professional, you should try running with the BMW club. The events are much better structured and you will have an instructor.

As requested, here's the link to my fast lap:

In hindsight, and given I had 10 sessions with instructors in St-Eustache, I found the experience alone a good one! BTW, this isn't a club, it's an event organized by VAG, and this year they had three instructors available to do follow the lead for beginners and I rode with one of them for like 6 laps.

Granted having onboard a good instructor would increase the knowledge about the track and you'd get realtime instructions! I'll join a BMW event at LCMT next time! 1'51" is that an ext mic, which one?
PS: are you still sipping sangrias ?

I am also running the BMS valve controller with the valves open. The exhaust did not sound that good when the valves kept opening and closing even in Sport+ It made a hissing sound and you could barely hear the downshifts. I find BMW really screwed up the valve control logic on early F8X (I read later ones are better).

You really should. There is nothing that compares to having a good instructor with you in the car. In your video, you are all over the place, an instructor would have put you on a proper line. We have pretty good instrctors with the BMW club, especially since we implemented the new instructor training program .

@CanAutM3 , did you have to put a windscreen on your mic, And did you tape it to the rear bumper? Tx for the link.

I have an inexpensive lav mic but the wind drowned out everything. I am gonna build a windscreen and try out again. I think my June 2015 car exhaust sounds nice and the flaps kinda remain open most of the time!

I was waiting for you to comment on the lack of my line that was at 3:00pm, exhausted, 1/2 asleep and I was experimenting a lot. I've asked you few times by PM when u instruct but no answer, I guess you wouldn't ride w me

Sorry about the PMs, I just received too many at some point and lost track which ones I had replied.

I do all LCMT events with the BMW club, except the last one since we were away. It is not guaranteed you can have me as an instructor because my primary assignment is instructor training. If we have no candidates for a given event, it could work out, but I wouldn't know in advance. Worse case, you could ride with me during one of my sessions and we could discuss line and driving technique. To maximize chances, make sure you specifically request me as an instructor when you register.

Mic is taped on the top of the rear bumper just past the trunk lid, no wind screen. I also thought my exhaust sounded good and that the valves were mostly open, until I heard the video .
