Good points all around. Ill be really interested in watching them review the car on an actual episode of Top Gear.
Really Im more excited to see him review the new Corvette. If he hates the C7, he will hate anything and everything to come out of the USA. |

....and, of course, bear in mind that in those same 'months' he drove the Corvette Stingray, which he also said was "excellent" and awarded 4/5 stars. http://www.driving.co.uk/car-reviews...y-convertible/ (and made a bunch of jokes about Americans, bibles, guns and communism.) |

Also, he said that it won't move until you touch the gas, you counter with it won't move until you touch the gas... I'm confused. How was he wrong? |

I wasn't as concerned with the creep he was talking about as much as the jerky nightmare comment. If you can't park a DCT f8x without jerkiness you are doing something wrong.

....just exaggeration on his part. It is more colourful than saying "I don't like parking the DCT"

Agreed. Again though, it's just classic Clarkson both in relation to hating "flappy paddles" and only letting his true views to a car air in the last few paragraphs. While no reviewer is the be all and end all I'm always pleased when Clarkson sings a car's praises that I plan to buy.

Only review that matters is mine, my own experience and what I feel when I drive my car. Who gives a shit what any of these guys have to say, drive the car for your self and decide if the car is for you.

http://www.driving.co.uk/car-reviews...y-convertible/ As I said above, he likes it ("excellent"), notes its faults (suspension, tranny, push-rod nature of engine), and gives it same rating as M4 (4/5). ...oh, and he makes a bunch of jokes about Americans, bibles, guns and communism. |

He's spot on for me. The colors are awful in person. I know it's subjective but we have already heard from everyone that loves YMB and AY but they really don't do justice to the cars. We keep hearing how great the DCT is we keep saying the annoyances and less involvment aren't worth the .2 seconds which mostly comes from launch control as much as quicker shifting. I was at the dealer waitng for the M3 test drive when a the guy that ordered one already was test driving it for the first time. They pull in and sit in the car a few minutes talking. Finally, the salesman who knows me well rolls down the window and asks, do you know how to put this thing in Park? I'm sorry if people think it sounds negative but everyone just accepts whatever BMW throws at them as gold-dust and righteous. Sorry, it's a lame design. You shouldn't have to read a manual to put your car in PARK. I give them credit for simplifying launch control finally, that was a joke in the E90s. The punk in the Sentra had creamed M3s while the owner was trying to figure out why launch control misfired at the stop light. It doesn't mean we don't love the other goodness in the car but in order to keep improving them someone has to be honest. If no one raises these points, they have no incentive to fix the problems. I'm glad Clarkson pointed these things out and hopefully BMW is listening because this is an incredible machine and I saw the new Lexus F car at Cars and Coffee Irvine last weekend. It is automatic and while ugly as a car can be and no manual (LAME) it has real sound and it sounded good! Darn good. The competition is not standing still and while BMW keeps us manual trans guys in the fold, Lexus is a contender with the automatic arcade-game, luxo crowd which is the largest part of the new M3 family.

What he said about the color applies to Phoenix Yellow, not Austin Yellow. Sheesh, get the colors right Jeremy.
And here's a good one: Quote:
Cheers.

I agree with JC on colours to some extent, but his comments on the DCT are very odd - I couldn't disagree more. Anyway, looking on the bright side, at least he's stopped slagging off the i-drive.....
Let's see what he thinks when he (inevitably) reviews the car again on the TV show!!

Clarkson states "a seven-speed flappy-paddle gearbox that offers no creep. Unlike a standard automatic, the car won’t move until you put your foot on the accelerator. Which makes parking a jerky bloody nightmare.” His article suggests that the M4; A: does not creep and B: requires you to use the accelerator to park it (i.e. to keep it moving) resulting in jerking. I'm simply pointing out that this isn't true - you tap the accelerator once to activate creep i.e. you can creep it into a parking space smoothly using the brakes after that.
