Bay Area: Anyone done the M Performance Electronic Wheel?
Been thinking about DIYing this... anyone done it? If so, difficulty? Or should I just hand it over to a shop.
For those who did a shop route, who did you go with? |

Yeah, I saw this and this is what piqued my interest. Wondered if anyone has actually attempted it. Brian is an expert at mods... wanted to see if anyone had any experiential learning. Thanks for the vid

I got mine done by SVBimmer because wiring isn't my strong suit. But if you're mechanically inclined I would say do it. I've done other mod installs that I followed from Brian at Kies and I had no issues following.

Unless wiring is a skill of yours, don't bother attempting it. These cars have so much electrical controls and if you're not careful you can seriously fry something and end up with a big bill. Unfortunately, I'm speaking from experience.
Find a good shop or even take it to the dealer for the install. That way it's their problem and liability if anything goes wrong. Per the official M Performance store, it's $600 to install at any BMW dealer. See screenshot. A competent custom car shop can likely do it for less.

Did mine myself and i did the awron gauge to wasn’t to bad but if you aren’t electrically inclined have a shop do it. I did not like the thought of paying people almost the cost of the part them selves. But it was my first time and i did awron gauge first and after that it was pretty straight forward on the m performance wheel. I got so good i even Did my xenon to led conversion. But imo i don’t even use the wheel unless on a track day. It gets old fast and i leave mine off most days now but it is cool to have!

Thoughts about the wheel: It really sets the interior with the chucky alcantara. For around town, I play around with the efficient dynamics as it tells you when to shift to maximize your efficiency once you program the wheel your target. |

Had SVbimmer do mine. The person that bought mine ended up burning the harness when they tried themselves so I'd say pay someone to do lol save yourself time and any headaches
