Considering the M has been out for soo long it's impressive it can keep up when other manufacturers have more time to get a heads up.

Not like it really matters to me anyway.

Yeah, I was like "wtf". The ATS-V has 464 hp 445 lbft of toque, tops out around 185 mph, and roughly the same 0-60 time as the M3. So, something is up. Heat soak? Or just trying to make the vid controversial?
Considering m3s dyno roughly 420/430 stock to the wheels.

I think it's bmws underrated engines that's make this seem off.

I think if all three were dynoed to the wheels this would be pretty much aligned with the wheel hp.

I figured as much. 640hp speaks volume! Literally on the way to work last week I had one try me.. I was still drinking coffee but also knew not a good idea lol. He got pissed and then got sideways to "let me know" lol

On a track - the F8x generation could definitely keep up with the CTS V. The CTS V would only have an advantage in a straight line (with absolutely no turns - although the CTS V for its size and weight does a pretty damn good job)!

Bottom line - no way I'd pick the CTS V over even the civic-spec F8x. I like to go to the track when I can and the CTS V (in addition to looking too "old" for me) just doesn't appeal to me for that purpose... But hey - for whomever likes that car - I cannot fault someone else for having a contrary opinion!

Transmission advantage should be factored in and yes s55 ZCP tuned for 450hp is a little bit underrated.

That being said m4 keeping up with Guilia in straight doesn't change the fact M4 is inferior in dynamic in every way else.

It's the day to day practicality and reliability where m4 outperforms.

Mid 1970's until 2010. Where have you been the last 7 years?

Hilarious....highlighting Cadillac sales numbers in the same conversation with Alfa Romeo (and market share). Talk about irrelevant.

Don't forget the weight differences here.

M3s are around 3,650lbs
QVs are like 3,800
ATS-V (despite being the smallest car in the segment) is like 3,900 ish.

Weight makes a big difference at a drag strip = power to weight ratio. The QV has the best ratio, followed closely by the M3. ATS-V is a bit worse. And the test results (at least for drag race type events) will typically follow that ratio. Unless there is a serious issue with putting the power to the ground (a la Hellcats) or a sluggish transmission or weird gearing issues.

You get an ATSV or CTSV out on the airstrip and they perform like they have 100-150 less hp than claimed by the factory. The Hellcat is even worse. The engineers say it has 500 hp but their marketing dept came up with 707.
