That sounds like crap. Sounds like a V6 camaro, or a Dodge Neon SRT, or some other rental car with a fart can on it. It has a TT inline 6, so in theory they should be able to get it to sound like an R34 GT-R or Supra. I loved the sound of my E90 M3, don't particularly love the sound of my GT-R, but the new M3/4 really sounds like crap.

You guys seriously like the sound? I hate it. M5 is ok but this is horrible.

An N55 with an exhaust and some DP's sounds better than this at far less cost for the parts....
And for the person that said it sounds like an AMG on the gearshift shift....here is an AMG safety car in all it's glory : You cannot compare the sound of the new M4 to an AMG ...totally different engines....totally different sound. |

I can't believe the people saying this sounds like a "ricer". It sounds nothing like such. It sounds good. It's not an e46 m3 for sure, but it's got a bit of it going on.

It wont effect my decision to get one or not, but I will certainly miss the sound of the V8. I think its the sound that is only thing that I will wish I could keep from the old car when I get the new.

I wouldn't want my M4 to sound like an A45 AMG with its 4 cyl. hahaha!
Whether or not it sounds like the A45 I'm not sure. In any case it's not a good thing if it does sound like one to be honest!! A 'true' AMG engine sounds mental from factory, stock exhaust and all. Fact is that from the clips this lastest M product does not sound anywhere near as good as their last version. I currently have a N54 and am not moved by the sound of the M4 on the video as much as I would like to have been. For me to upgrade there must be a significant jump in all departments inc. sound. This has got me worried for the sound of the new C63 with its new turbo V8.... Last edited by Gunzaro; 04-06-2014 at 08:57 AM.. |

+1, especially since AMG will be offering a convertible this time around... BMW has done a great job with the F83 but for me (pre 981) it was really the only game in southern Germany... if MB throws down on the new C63, the v8 could be the deal breaker. That said I recently drove the SLK55 and it was roundly horrible.

I think those E46s sound disgusting and even worse in person, I actually like the F80 with M Performance a lot better. Since when does the E46 have 1k more rpm? The F80 revs to 7,600 so it's only 400rpm short of the S54.
